My guess is that the photobook is geared more towards professional photographers who want to offer a pregnancy album to their clients and use the same template over and over. For the regular consumer, I agree that $50 is way too much.

Actually Tripletsmama, you cannot make my book using either of those sites you named because neither offer the option of putting two pages on a one paged spread (pages that stretch across the binding).

The cost is set at $50 for many legitimate reasons. One of many being the JPG format comes with 1,118 colored pages that the regular consumer can use without photoshop.
