We must admit our eyes involuntarily rolled when a press release for something called "Mamatini" popped into our inbox this morning. Let's face it, moms struggling with milk supply hardly feel like Carrie Bradshaw so sexy product names only tend to annoy us and remind us of our former lives having long lunches with our versions of Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha. But we're willing to overlook the name for a useful product - a pre-prepared drink aimed at boosting milk supply.
If you've ever struggled with milk supply you probably tried drinking fenugreek tea or other herbal remedies. Maybe this worked well for you, but we do appreciate that bottled Mamatini is ready to go when you are and travels easily. It is, however, a lot more expensive than making your own tea at home. We'd be interested in hearing reports on whether it tastes better than fenugreek tea.
You can read more about it here.

Commercial Flour Sa...
I've never heard of this, but I know about Pregatinis.
And hey, when you're desperate, you'll try anything to boost supply - my friends make lactation cookies - this could be a good pairing. :)

Darn! I wish I could have heard about this before I stopped trying to breastfeed. Oh well! Looks cool!
Fenugreek, "Mother's Milk" tea, and oatmeal (any type, even cookies) are tried and true... and way, way cheaper.
But the best way to increase supply is basically nursing often until your boobs catch up. Doesn't work for everyone, but works for many. And once your supply is established you can relax and nurse a little less often. But, really, anyone who doesn't expect to be nursing every 1-2 hours for the first couple of months has unrealistic expectations. You may very well not be the "nursing every hour" mother... but you may very well be. I was for the first six weeks, until my body figured out what to do. Pick up a good carrier for nursing (Ergo; Moby) and be patient. I nearly tore my hair out the first couple of months of nursing my son, but ended up with an excellent supply. Patience.
I agree that you have to have patience in the beginning of breastfeeding, but in my experience, it was when I went back to work that my supply plummeted. I pumped every 3 hours and my oversupply of breast milk went to undersupply in about a month. Thank goodness for pumps, but they just can't authentically stimulate a real baby. It's a shame, but there wasn't much I could do. Oatmeal and fenugreek helped-- maybe this new fangled juice/tea thing might work-- but not much you can do when your baby is miles away from you for most of the day.
Beer works! Just one, after you've just pumped or fed.
I second Beer - a friend of mine had three letdowns in one meal after a glass of beer. Timing is everything like the previous poster pointed out.
...ugh, its worth it if it tastes better than that mothers milk tea every two hours.
You can get Fenugreek and Blessed Thistle in capsules. At least you can in Canada. So no need to worry about the taste. I used them. I had trouble with breastfeeding at first, and so I did need to take medication to increase supply by the time we got our troubles worked out. But the herbal supplements did help. They make you smell like maple syrup. But there are worse things!
