One great way to add texture and oomph to a blah room is to add a pattern in the pillows, rugs and artwork. If you own or have a great relationship with the landlord you could even get away with wallpapering just one accent wall. Check out the vintage paper that Marcela found:We found images of Marcela's great 70's era wallpaper in the LA Flickr pool and loved how she used the wallpaper on one wall to create an accent. With the other elements in the room the wallpaper doesn't take over or make it look granny. Marcela found this great 70's era wallpaper and covered just one wall of her home. Read more about her wallpapering adventure on her blog (it's in Spanish) Deco Marce.
