Name: Maren (1) and guests and sometimes mom
Location: Brooklyn, NY
Division: Shared Room
Room Size: 84 square feet
Tip for Living Small with Kids: Don't try to keep things pristine. It will drive you crazy. It is much more challenging to keep small spaces looking 'put away', so learn to love the look of blocks scattered about the room. I know I cleaned up nice for taking photos of our space, but the reality of a lived in little home with kiddos is pretty nice - no need to fight it all the time.
Biggest Design Challenge in this Room: The space is long and narrow and had a door at one end into the common stair. We are not quite sure why it is there, we don't use it to get in and out of the apartment - a mystery. One long wall we lined with 15 wall-mount storage bins, so it was challenging to fit the 3 major items (changing table, crib and twin bed) along the available long wall. I finally decided to put Maren's crib at the end of the space and hang a fabric panel over the door. I had decided not to make any crib bedding, so the fabric found a new purpose.
Favorite Thing About This Room: The floor. I have always had a thing for white painted floors, probably from my Swedish roots. Maren's room is the only bedroom in our place, so we thought why not go for it, just in there? Maren's dad sanded and sanded and painted and I think it really set up the light and airy character I love about this room.
Thanks for your entry Lisa and good luck!

The colorful geometric print on the shelf with the bear bunny and vase?
Where is it from I'm in love!??
WANT.
This space is absolutely perfect for a NYC baby! It's a perfect balance between space for a tiny person and light to warm up the space. I love the bright colors against the white that adds to the cheeriness of the space for a young formative mind. Looks great and I love the designer baby furniture!
Yep. I live in Brooklyn too and totally love this!
I LOVE hot pink with the orange, yellow and grey. Looks like something a designer did (or architect perhaps?). Great use of a small space!!
This space makes me wish my bedrooms were smaller!
I wish we could see a full tour - with a head on shot of the storage wall and maybe even how things are organized inside. I love every detail!
Great comment about keeping it real with kids as well - so refreshing to hear from someone with obviously amazing taste.
I love this. Small and very, very sweet.
Would you mind sharing the wall color? Thanks!
By far, one of my favorite nurseries EVER! Love the colors used!
LOVE this!! i'd also love to know the wall color, and fabric name/source. thanks!
where are the toys kept? i don't see a place the baby can reach for toys. Maybe i missed it. Our rooms are full of buckets/bins/shelves for baby and toddler to reach. Sure it doesn't look at nice but what other options are there.
@dawnsf This was an unintended benefit of the wall bins, but if Maren wakes up before us (which is pretty much every day), she reaches into the bin closest to the foot of the crib and grabs toys, stuffed animals, etc. out of it and plays with them.

LOVE LOVE LOVE Maren's space~ perfection!
Perfect. It's just perfect.
Are the wall bins god for toys? I like that they take up zero floor space and minimal space in general. Do you find yo can fit "enough" in each one? How did you label them? Or is that not a label/print I see on them? Thanks!
Great job mom! I particularly love how maren already has a big girl bed in there to look forward to and, until then, it serves a guest area. What a creative and beautiful space!
this roo is just darling! i love it!
I LOVE the crib! Where is it from?
You guys created a really fun and beautiful space for your daughter! Can you tell me the fabric you used? I love it!
I love this room as well! Also love your daughter's name, it's my daughter's middle name and was my great-great grandma's name.
Good things come in small packages...love the room!
This room is amazing, wish I could fit a bed in my nursery for those 'up and down' night shifts!
good design sense & i love your color usage, not too over powering & still child-like.
Love that rug! :)
What crib & dressing/changing table is that?

Geometric print is from Etsy (everything in this room is from Etsy, craigslist, Ikea or a gift)

@reef and MC'sMummy - the paint is 'Alaskan Husky' from Benjamin Moore. We used the super low VOC version, Aurora.
adorable.
@MC'sMummy and mmogrady,The fabric I searched for from week 10 until third trimester: Saffron Craig, Parrots and fields range (Australia has the most amazing fabric designers!) Not sure if they are all still available, but all her stuff is fun.

@designJW and Myyearof, the crib and changing are from Oeuf! The sparrow line in gray, hunted down on craigslist.
Misc:
No one asked, but the rug is also from Etsy, Green at Heart, featured on Ohdeedoh not long ago. It was so perfect and 'really ties the room together'. http://www.etsy.com/shop/greenatheart
The storage bins are IKEA 'Trones'. They hold small toys and are great for small baby/toddler clothes, but please know that we have big fabric bins of toys – always out and messy - in the living room. Every time I put them away I know they will be out and all over again soon ;). I used a 'liquid chalk' marker in pink to label them the Trones bins. It erases so you can re-label as storage needs change.
This is so beautiful. I have a good case of nursery envy!
I absolutely love this, great job randy and lisa!
Thanks for the paint info!
Are the bins originally for shoes? Love the idea....**filing away for future use**
Beautifully done!
So beautiful! I love the rug and the color palette!
this room is my favorite! what is the little banner thing (I cant quote see) looks like maybe little letters? I've been wanting one of those rugs on etsy--cannot decide what colors...how does it seem to hold up?
I just love this room. The crib, the colours, the day bed, your great use of space... it's an absolute inspiration. Way to go!
