Warm and modern meet. The interiors of this 1960's summer house designed by Swiss architect Rudy Mock are clean-lined and spare but tempered with natural materials and color...

The house is one in a collection of modern summer homes in Suffolk, England. When its last owner, a ninety-year-old woman who had lived there for 30 years, moved out, fashion designer Margaret Howell moved in. The home's story, along with a great slideshow, is archived in the House & Home section of The Independent.

We love the contrasting kitchen cabinetry, the open timber beams, and all that vintage furniture (some of it purchased by Howell from the previous owner). Photos: Andrew Hayes-Watkins
