Located in New York's Flatiron District, the opening of Marimekko's new Manhattan location was just as colorful and vibrant as the prints that filled its shelves. The staff on-hand donned Marimekko smocks, while Rioult, a local modern dance company, entertained guests with occasional mod performances.
The space, designed by Japanese design firm IMA, is a stark white space that sets the stage for colorful clothing and home accessories like glassware, storage containers and cooking utensils. What's really exciting about this store are the towers of signature Marimekko fabrics that you can actually give to the on-site seamstress to be sewed into curtains, tote bags or other goods!

Oooh, I would of loved to be there!
I thought there was already a flagship store on the upper east side (because it was the only store).
There'll be another Marimekko store opening in South Florida later this month. It'll be at the Crate and Barrel in Gulfstream Park Village in Hallandale Beach.
So cool that there is a seamstress onsite!
Between this store & Eataly there must have been 10,000 people on that block today.
Wow - that looks like it was so much fun!
I LOVED that they had Marimekko umbrellas and tablecloths on the picnic tables in the pedestrian mall outside. So festive!
