Mario, a reader from Sao Paolo, sent in these photos of a bookshelf he had custom built for his home by a friend. Inspired by a design saw online and loved, he and his wife, Tete, made up some plans…
… and worked with their talented woodworker friend, Pedro Layus, to execute them.
He told us a bit about the finished piece:
The shelf is 2.20 meters wide, 2 meters tall and 30 centimeters deep. It's made of MDF wood and the colored parts are Formica sheets. As you can see in some of the pictures, all the parts are independent of each other so it's a modular project. I can unscrew half of the shelf and use it at another place or I can re-arrange the parts as I see fit (and the holes match too, it's a very artisan project!).
We love how perfectly if fits in with the other, colorful accents in Mario and Tete's home that they also us sent photographs of — a very cohesive aesthetic. Nice job!

White Enamel Flatwa...
Thanks for publishing! We have to say that the beautiful pics were taken by our great friend Rodrigo Morbey. You can see some other photos by him here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/holeinthespeaker/
I loved the white space
Beautiful.
Thanks for the photographer link, Tete. I've updated the post and added his link to the photo credit.
Thank you, Janel!
Adjustable bookcases are so useful, and this one is gorgeous, too.
These are really neat, and would be very easy to make with a trip to Lowe's or Home Depot- I know Lowe's sells a bunch of craft wood in all sorts of smaller sizes, and it'd be a cinch (and a long afternoon) to put them together in Tetris shapes.
Well done. I like the way it plays off your other room elements, too.
*swoon*
Any chance you'd be willing to share the plans on this one? I'm trying to make a project like this for my own home!
