During a recent visit to a friends place in Austin, I was introduced to the recently released Alphabet Series by Mark McGinnis. My friend had purchased one of the prints at Austin gallery IF+D. Like most young adults, I appreciate humor in all of its forms, especially in the art that goes into my home.
Intended to spoof the alphabet cards that we all remember from grade school, the Alphabet Series by Brooklyn based artist Mark McGinnis are sure to make you laugh and question your humor at the same time. Of course, not everyone will love the series as much as I do-- that is clear--but others will surely be eager to get their hands on their own copy as soon as possible. The sampling here is among the tamer of the bunch (my personal favorites are H and M). If you'd like to see the rest, you can see (most) of the series here. The prints are a very reasonable $75 a piece.

I'm not sure which one I love more. These are all so awesome!!
GENIUS!!! I want them all but my kids are too young (and their parents would go ape shit at our playdates...)
Wonderful!!
I'm in love...
Pretty hilarious, but Uu = Euthenasia? That's just a lame copout.
Cute, but ultimately depressing.
These are hilarious!
Eh. I usually prefer my humour to be funny.
My daughter is grown and I WANT these! They'd go nicely with the "I lost my virginity but I still have the box it came in" fridge magnet that my mother hates so much. :-)
Love these!
Well, if anything can prove that humor is subjective, this certainly does. I'm with sherrme!
If you like his prints, come by Post 27 on December 2, 2010. We are having an art show with his newest collection!
Mm is for moose knuckle.
I like them as much as the rest of you but I'm thinking the Camel toe is a little phallic for a child's room.
Uh, I could be wrong, but I don't think these are actually meant to go in a child's room (please God, tell me no parent would actually put these in a child's room)--I take it to be a "funny" thing for adults to decorate with.
Ha! Camel Toe is actually the opposite of phallic!
Ummmmm....I love. I especially love (on his website) that "D" is for Drive by.
Stop. Absolutely died laughing
