We're fans of blackboard paint here at AT. And we've seen it quite a bit lately. But this is a new one: it's Markee Dry-Erase Paint...
It paints on over any wall paint color. When dry, it allows the wall to be treated as a dry-erase board. We're not clear on whether this causes any unpleasant glossiness but we can only imagine that it would. If it doesn't, though, we're completely on board. It comes at a cost, though: Markee Dry-Erase Paint is close to $100 a gallon, but a gallon provides about 200sf of coverage. A dry-erase board of that size would cost much more than that.

Theoretically at least, what sounds like an advantage about this is that blackboards can suck the light out of a room, AND create chalk dusk, whereas this might not quite do that, right? I think that in a kitchen whose other walls are a color, one wall could be this.
The only thing I'd be concerned about is that if it's constantly covered with writing it would add back the visual clutter that this site likes to make go away.
Seems to me that the really great application would be in offices--we use whiteboard constantly at mine, and I'd think if we could have painted a whole big wall in a conference room it would have been embraced...
Bathroom paint!
My Only issue with the Markee paint is that you have to erase it within 24 hours, or else you're doomed. I tried it myself, and it's a nightmare to get off if you leave it on there for a couple of days. IdeaPaint has one as well, but you can erase it later. You can get it off of DickBlick for cheaper than off their website. I'm not sure if it's cheaper though due to the size comparison between the IdeaPaint can and the Markee Can Sizes.
