It seemed VERY similar to the other one, actually. But it was a tad more palatable because, I'm sorry, but I just DO like Martha, pretty much no matter what.

It was a tad disconcerting how not put off Martha seemed by the bickering that occurred among the candidates.

But the only thing that I really objected to was how the palate of the show looked. It seemed like an operating room, or something. I expected the overall look of the show to be prettier, somehow.

Agree with Curtis - the set design sucked and was totaly un-Martha. Mark Burnett has no style.. The real office is about as pretty and pleasant as you can get - none of this carpeted harsh lighted wingback chair garbage... None of the contestants had any style either.

Forget M. Diddy. Who saw "The Apprentice" last night? It was GREAT. The daytime show ... not so good.

Did I hear Martha correctly? Did she say, "You don't fit here," at the end? That was her "you're fired" equivalent?

posted by Adrienne on 09.22.05 at 07:52AM

You heard correctly, but I think the real "you're fired" equivalent is the "good-bye" letter. So "Martha."

Whoopsie. I just realized that I rushed to post seeing the "Diddy" in the question and thought this thread was about the daytime show rather than The Apprentice. Thus the incongruity of my first comment.
Anyway, I hate to spoil the Turkey Hill illusion, but I've been in the MSLO lobby in Midtown and all over the offices on West 26th Street and they are hyper modern, lofty, all white and steel. It's beautiful, just not cozy.

I'm fine with "beautiful, but not cozy" but I just thought the whole look of the show was much through the lens of the Donald, than La Martha.

Yes. Lose the Mark Burnett music, lose the letter, soften the lighting, toughen up Martha, and call it a success.

i like martha, i'm interested in what she has to say daytime or primetime. i just wonder if your aking people who may not think the apprentice with trump is not hot, if martha's is hot.

I only saw the second half, but I liked it quite a bit. I loved the set (which I thought was *very* Martha) and I loved the touch at the end of the letter. I like her so much better as the tough perfectionist business woman than as the easygoing talkshow host.

The Apprentice is the only reality series I watch so I was looking forward to seeing Martha's version. Having never seen her before on TV (except that CBS segment, which was shown on the news, when she started stabbing that lettuce when asked about her trial) I was pleasantly surprised by what I saw.

Some ppl on the tv forum on craigslist have complained that they did not get to see the bitch on wheels that they tuned in for but I'm glad I didn't. I enjoy watching how the teams interact and how the tasks play out so if Martha turned out to be an insufferable bitch (which I believe she was to her ex husband from things that I have read) then it would have turned me off.

Like I said, I have never seen her before on TV so I'm not sure what wisdom she brings to the world - I certainly did not see any profound revelations the other night - so I cannot say that I was impressed with her at all. She was simply a good host with a crap punchline.
