"Furniture is a piece of artwork. A chair must be made so that the person sitting in it would look beautiful."
These words were often heard during Japanese furniture maker Maruni's starting years and the company believes that furniture has the power to invigorate not just the people using it, but also their whole lifestyle.
With chairs like this I can't help but agree with the statement!
Their Cord-chair designed by nendo received the 'Best Chair' award from the Wallpaper* Design Awards 2010. The cord-chair has legs only 15 mm in diameter, rather than assembling wood panels around a 9mm steel frame, they decided to hollow out pieces of wood to clad each part of the frame.
