Roman & Williams create the most beautiful masculine spaces that anyone would love. Not only do they specialize in personal spaces, they also create business environments too…
WIthout knowing I fell in love with Roman & Williams quite some time ago. I had been a fan of Ace Hotel's husky interior ever since I stayed in one last year. Little did I know, Roman & Wiliams was behind the unique but gorgeous design. I think I enjoy the interiors by Roman & Williams because they are able to capture the beauty of wood and pair it with deep, dark colors for a truly unique combination.
It's so refreshing to see a beautiful, masculine space isn't it?

I love these spaces, and the use of natural materials to create a rugged yet sleek look.
I really enjoy the whole atmosphere. It seems to have a long history whereas it is a recent realization and it has an "atelier" (workshop) spirit IMO... I'm loving it!
absolutely love!
but, can inanimate objects be viewed as masculine or feminine? i think my view on it is more as dark and utilitarian than masculine... but that's a po-tay-to po-tah-to situation :)
whatever you wanna call it, this girl likes it!
These are striking and enjoyable, but... it's like they think the top two fears all men share are "fabric" and "color." Spaces can be quite masculine without being totally neutral and devoid of textiles, IMO!
Is the ax above the bed part of the image - or an actual ax mounted to the wall? I'm not sure I'd want to sleep beneath that....
i like all of them except for the 3rd one. it's so dark that it becomes a bit creepy....
I'd agree it is a little bit creepy because of its kind of darkness. I'd like to just add one thing i dislike: the art above the bed representing a devastating tornado... not a great help to fall asleep...
I LOVE Roman and Williams interiors! Their work for 211 Elizabeth Street is so inspiring.
Really like most spaces that get defined as "masculine." So warm and rich looking without being frou frou.
Great stuff. Lofty and industrial, especially the first two (which appear to be different shots of one living space). I'm grateful to have a wife that likes this look as much as I do.
it's really interesting to see how people integrate darker colours into rooms, the first picture particularly interests me. The composition of the light filled room contrasting with the dark wood and fabric stops the feeling of masculinity from being overbearing and creates a dramatic room but still feels calm.

Roman and Williams are amazing and their specific take on masculine design is inspiring. There are so many other refreshing masculine takes on interiors -- yes, many utilizing color and texture -- it's what my site is all about. Take a look at Japanese Trash for more in masculine design.
masculine or industrial chic...it's gorgeous...

According to this: http://lisadreissig.com/tag/roman-and-williams/ the Tornado print isn't a print but an original piece of art called A Painting of a Tornado Ripping Through a Small Town that was done specifically for the Ace Hotel.
Too bad. I like it, too.
