Back to basics. The LAX Wall Mounted Shelf, designed by Bernard Brucha for MASH Studios, is an utterly simple storage unit. You choose between birch plywood and solid walnut (yum). The sliding doors are made of white-painted 1/8" bent aluminum plates that are fit into a groove in the wood.

In a world where there are so many over-designed, non-designed, cheaply-crafted pieces of furniture, it's refreshing to see this piece. It could be used as a sideboard if mounted at the right height, a media cabinet, or even over-the counter shelves in the kitchen.

The price isn't bad at $590 for the birch model and $690 for the walnut. Plus, shipping is free when you purchase through Design Public.

Definitely beautiful. Doesn't seem like it could hold that much weight?
the website says it can hold 110 lbs
I have been eyeing this for months now trying to decide how it could fit into my apt. I originally thought a media unit as well, but when you think about it there would be no way to get the cords to and from the TV/stereo/DVD etc. Even if you cut holes in it (gasp!) it still would not work since it has to be mounted flush to the wall. It is lovely though.

Cut/drill small holes in the top. With a large TV on top you shouldnt notice them.
