Mason's Playful Woodland Bedroom

Mason loves nature, so his mom Traci wanted to work with a woodland theme for his bedroom. With modern bunk beds, hand made book art, and a subtle palette of colors, this room hits the mark. It certainly is one that he can grow into and enjoy for years to come.

Traci Fleming, president of Nursery Works, combined her efforts with interior designer Tamara Honey to create the perfect children's nook with a truly unique balance of playfulness and whimsy for Mason's own bedroom.

A few questions for Traci:

What was your inspiration for the room? Mason loves nature, and a woodland theme became the inspiration for his room.

What is your favorite element in the room? The Nurseryworks bunkbed. It doubles as a fort and accommodates 3 kids for sleepovers!

Before starting, what did you know you wanted to include, for sure? Great storage in the closet.

What was your proudest DIY? The book nook — it includes a comfy bolster pillow, hanging birdhouse and flying books. It was really fun to create.

What was your biggest indulgence? The flat weave cotton Madeline Weinrib rug.

Any advice for other people starting this process? To be thoughtful about the future needs of your child. What they play with, what they collect, what is important to them changes — having flexibility in your design can accommodate that.

If money was no object, what would your dream source be? Honestly, I had my dream source in House of Honey. Tamara is an amazing designer!
