Mason loves nature, so his mom Traci wanted to work with a woodland theme for his bedroom. With modern bunk beds, hand made book art, and a subtle palette of colors, this room hits the mark. It certainly is one that he can grow into and enjoy for years to come.
Traci Fleming, president of Nursery Works, combined her efforts with interior designer Tamara Honey to create the perfect children's nook with a truly unique balance of playfulness and whimsy for Mason's own bedroom.
A few questions for Traci:
What was your inspiration for the room? Mason loves nature, and a woodland theme became the inspiration for his room.
What is your favorite element in the room? The Nurseryworks bunkbed. It doubles as a fort and accommodates 3 kids for sleepovers!
Before starting, what did you know you wanted to include, for sure? Great storage in the closet.
What was your proudest DIY? The book nook — it includes a comfy bolster pillow, hanging birdhouse and flying books. It was really fun to create.
What was your biggest indulgence? The flat weave cotton Madeline Weinrib rug.
Any advice for other people starting this process? To be thoughtful about the future needs of your child. What they play with, what they collect, what is important to them changes — having flexibility in your design can accommodate that.
If money was no object, what would your dream source be? Honestly, I had my dream source in House of Honey. Tamara is an amazing designer!

I want to sleep in there! super cute.
This is just incredible. I love the bunk bed.
What a great way to bring the outdoors in!
Lovely space.
That nook stole my heart. Lucky guy. :) We made DD's nook in her closet and she loves it. I have my own nook in the kitchen. Love nooks, especially those near windows......
Those bunk beds look really comfy too. Great job.
Mom Traci is the president of NurseryWorks and the room is full of NurseryWorks furniture? This is nothing more than advertising.
Beautiful! Would love a house tour...
So what if it's advertising. Her son's room is nice!
Wait, where's the rug? And where did you get the hanging acorn?
Where did you source the acorns from? Both the hanging one and the one on the chest of drawers? They are gorgeous!
this is wonderful. I usually can't stand the contrived cutesiness of the kid room tours on here, but this is a great real room that makes me want to be nine years old again and curled up by the window in that nook with a book. and WHERE is the acorn from??
I love the nook, but feel that a nice plush rug or a floor cushion would help out in terms of making it a comfortable place to actually want to sit and read. Plus we hear about how great the closet storage space is, but no photos.
I echo the other posts - wheres the acorn from? Also, you source the water lily painting as being Dwell but nothing is turning up on their site. Can you give me any more specifics?
Room looks great! I LOVE how it's not so cutesy/kid. Surely a room that would grow with a boy. I'd love for this to be my daughters room - with a few girly touches (fairies and glitter, of course). Well done! Now please tell us about those ACORNS and PAINTING please!
I like the needlepont hanging. Where did you get that? My mom had one exactly like that hanging in her bedroom when I was growing up. It would never occur to me in 1,000 years to put that in a boys room but it works.
I feel bad for these poor kids who don't have actual kid rooms. Yes. They look nice, but there is no imagination in them. This room just doesn't. Feel like the child lives there. It feels very stark and adult like.
