Name: Matilda (5 months)
Location: Bucuresti, Romania
Color Inspiration: We decorated Matilda's room having in mind the time of her birth, which was springtime with it sunny skies and chirping birds. We live in an rather dark old building with massive doors and parquet floor in dark tones, so we wanted to bring more light into the room without diminishing its classic touch or making it too striking. That was why we set our minds on a solar yellow for a single wall and decided to have only white and neutral furniture, except for a couple of antiques (the chest of drawers, the armchair, and the mirror).
Tip for Using Color: Because of the predominant dark tones contrasting with the yellow wall, we went for a neutral palette with only a few touches of color here and there. That's how the colorful corner with the alphabet, the numbers on the drawers, and the cat collection came up.
Colors Used: We used Benjamin Moore Amarillo Yellow for the wall, as well as for Matilda's crib and bird houses. The special thing about Matilda's bedding is that it is handmade by my sister. I printed the alphabet and the numbers with a few free cliparts and a bit of Illustrator. The illustrations are mine, I made them for a childrens book.
