Size: 1,600 square feet
Years lived in: 4 months; Rent
Just four months ago Jaime and Matt moved from their small apartment in historic Baker to the house next door. While they didn't quite need 1,600 square feet of space, the natural light and open floor plan were very enticing.

Nomade Express Slee...
Such fun elements to this home! I especially love the front door and the red tub. And the exposed brick? LOVE! Great tour
I love the floors and I LOVE that brick wall.
love all your craftiness (knitting, sewing, the afghan on the great grey sofa, the pillows ...), the records, the kitties, how you arranged things ... ) and, oh, what a fun place in which to live and decorate (brick walls, lighting, that red tub ...)!
thanks for sharing.
kathy
If you're in Denver, you should visit their stores, Fancy Tiger Crafts and Fancy Tiger Clothing (see links above). It's great to see you feature such awesome folks on Apartment Therapy!
Thumbs up on the Tears for Fears record. It's an oldie but goodie!
I'm a fan of the pony parade.
Ponies and kitties and a red claw foot bathrub. Oh my! What a great place. Thanks for sharing.
great post! and a lovely home to boot! - Im wondering if the mention of the weak kitty bladder was really necessary though :)
I was thinking 'what a beautiful house!' then came 'what the hell, those cabinets look just like my shitty rental ones- why in the world would people with clearly such taste choose those suckers?' to 'oh yeah, read first, then look. they are stuck with awful cabinets, too!'
gorgeous house, sorry that the cabinets are part of the deal. I am in love with that red bathtub!!
What a great house ~ Love the brick walls, high ceilings, front door, red tub...wonderful features! Love all the knitted creatures and the cat portraits. The Tears for Fears album is a gem too BTW!
I love your tours from Denver.
what a great tour! :) I love their fabric store and the classes they offer! I can't imagine what they pay in rent...I live in the same neighborhood and pay $1200 for maybe 500 sq ft. I always wonder what those big beautiful houses look like on the inside...now i know. ;)
Beautiful place! I work at a vet clinic and have a kitty with pee problems - whenever I hear that someone is in the club too I have to ask if you've taken said kitty to the vet to have a full urinary/blood workup done. Sometimes there is a medical reason for inappropriate urination. And I apologize if you've already done all that and am in no way meaning to be patronizing! After finding no medical reason for my cat's peeing, we just started him on prozac (fluoxetine). He's doing great! No more peeing, he loves his daily "treats" (pill shoved in a pill pocket) and fluoxetine is super cheap. He's still his normal self, just without the pee.
love so much here (as stated earlier) ... forgot to ask about art in the second preview shot, the one in the center of the lamb on a hill with a farmhouse in the background. would you please share the source on that for me? love it! thank you!
kathy
Love it! It's interesting, quirky and not too busy. Too bad the cat keeps you from having rugs, but that's what we do for our pets isn't it! :) Your cat looks exactly like my Max, even the little black spot on the nose!! :)
I like it. It's minimalist w/o being boring. You're right those kitchen cabinets are yuck- you should ask your landlord if you can paint them, maybe he or she would let you if you agreed upon a color in advance. I've also seen people affix fabric or another material to paneled cabinets (removable obviously). Also maybe try waterproof floor cloths for the kitchen flooring/cat issues. Just a few thoughts.... exposed brick & hardwood floors though. {sigh} what more could you ask for? :)
I like the floors, brick wall, the pony parade and the colour of the tub. There's also some nice pieces of art.
Overall though I find the place really bland. While there are some interesting pieces I don't think the scale and lack of color does anything for this place.
In love with their brick walls!
I concur with stream13. Although it has a nice clean feel to it, it seems unfinished. The scale of the pictures for instance, hanging on the walls--they are too small in proportion with the rest of the wall. Everything is also kinda squished to the walls a little bit..Like you lived in a small house before, and are now in a big one.
Its as if you had a large canvas, and you used only a pencil or two in a corner of the canvas instead of using most of it. And using a pencil on a huge canvas is not really the right medium..
The frames are also kinda delicate looking..with the brick walls, and so forth, they could use some oomph to them. Its like you are being shy, and reserved. Bring "yourself" out a little bit more..
Oh, Baker...the dreamiest, hippest, coolest neighborhood in Denver. My Mr. and I just moved to Denver and would have had to sell our left legs to have a place that size in Baker so I'm overjoyed that you posted this tour today! Any chance we get to peek into that magical lifestyle is a joy. LOVE this beautiful home!
I like the pony parade but that's about it. Too cool for school!
Beautiful. I used to collect Breyer horses and my mom always had them arranged on a long, skinny shelf above my bed. I kind of want to collect them again hehe :) I used to live in Five Points, my beau and I always went to Sputniks (mmm cuban sandwiches!) and I can't NOT go in Fancy Tiger when we go to that area... I love love love the fabric selection there! Definitely a great store to check out if you're in the area
horsessssss!!!!
Yay! Denver represent! Loved taking a peek at the home of the owners of my favorite stores.
I love the couch, the tub, the brick wall (duh), and the double entrances into the kitchen. You've probably thought of this, but I took the doors off my ugly rental apartment cabinets, and I'm loving it! Shelves > ugly cabinets.
And, I have to say it, the two of you are straight out of Portlandia. I like your top, girl.
I like the Vintage Westnofa Siesta chairs in the living room...I'd love a pair of these chairs too, so comfy and stylish!
I second the Denver love. Do you have to be cool to be allowed to live here, or what?
The exposed brick wall, pony parade, red claw-foot tub and animal cushions are doing it for me.
Read the first paragragh, sanssouc1572! It literally says that they lived in a small place before and just moved into a bigger one. I'm sure once they spend more time in their new place their art collection will be able to grow to fill those walls.
Lovely home!
Love this place! Ponies and Tears for Fears FTW!
Stuqdog - I'm not sure if telling them they are straight out of portlandia is a compliment since the show is a spoof on this type of hipster lifestyle. But I like these people and their house nonetheless.
I can't imagine the owners of Fancy Tiger living anywhere less darling. Thanks for the peek!
wow, now I know what to do with my old Breyer horses. Looks so whimsical.
Beautiful home.
I need a source for a beautiful black rug in the dining room :)
Great home! That staircase and the brick wall are wonderful and work nicely with the crafty look.
I wanted to dismiss them as hipster caricatures but anyone who makes such adjustments to keep their problem kitty is pretty much a hero. With a beautiful, beautiful house!
I appreciate the space between your collections; it's as if you are allowing them to breathe a little. Well done!
Likes- the brick walls, the cats, the dining table, the horses in the bedroom and layout of the home.
Dislikes- the white walls and the color of the wood of the kitchen cabinets.
I would paint the cabinets white and the various walls bold colors.
Beautiful home!
I also like the photos on the fridge!
The house is great and it looks an extension of the couple living in it as how all interiors should be.
I love the whimsical elements throughout your home. You have a great eye for decorating with a light hand. Great job.
i love the stairway + the brick + the pretty kitty!
I love the brick wall.
