Yesterday I posted a roundup of instructions showing my project that converted a free curbside find into a record storage solution. Reader matthewhambrick commented and shared his similar vintage DIY project, one that used an old console television and converted it into a unit that holds 100 of his select vinyl choices...
From Matthew: I always throughly clean anything I bring home - especially from the thrift store - and while I was cleaning I noticed some remnants of metal that looked like a grounding plate from a television! A few minutes of nosing around inside and I realized that this used to be a television. The person who owned it before me must have retrofit the inside with record shelves and built the doors on the front.
Of all the furniture scores I have obtained over the years, I think this is my favorite. It would be the hardest to get rid of if forced.
Not bad for a Salvation Army pickup and an example that you don't have to go to a furniture store to furnish you home entertainment or home office (we love vintage designs more anyway). Thanks for sharing, Matthew!
