Name: Mattias (4 months)
Location: Portland, OR
Division: Single Room
Room Size: 50 square feet
Tip for Living Small with Kids: It's important to buy items that you love, that can evolve over time and, when ever possible, that serve more than one purpose. Aside from that, love and play with your children, not stuff. :)
Biggest Design Challenge in this Room: This "room" is our walk-in closet and we rent. Anything that is done must be undone later. Since I couldn't remove the shelving or the hanging rails, so I had to incorporate/ embrace them... that took some brainstorming.
*Don't worry folks, there isn't a door on this closet, it cannot be closed, he cannot be "trapped inside". Safety first!
Favorite Thing About This Room: So much of this room is handmade, re-purposed and generally frugal-friendly... I'm happy to have created an interesting and fun space for my little guy that didn't break the bank. I love the look I get when I say that my kid lives in the closet, and then the look of surprise when they see how nice it is.
Thanks for your entry Crystal and good luck!

Shaw's Original Fir...
I didn't even realize it was a closet at first glance -- well done! I love the hanging bird mobile.
What a great way to think creatively and make some space for the nursery. The black and white often gets an unreceptive reaction from adults but babies love contrast and it's advised as a colour scheme for newborns. Great job.
wow, that's pretty cool for such a confined space!!
I love the pops of color in contrast to the black and white. VERY nice.
Despite popular designs, black & white actually helps a baby's intellectual growth. Splashes of bright colors help abbies to identify objects earlier and improve spatial intelligence. Plus, Crystal has added some endearing touches like animals and photos. What a great use of such a small space! My daughter was in a closet as an infant too.
Big Fluffy Bears for the WIN! What fun.
Too much black for my taste.
Especially the black storage containers on the shelf. They make the space even smaller than it already is.
I love this space. You've done a great job making the most out of what you had to work with! I really like the black and white.
Love your use of the closet--what a creative place for your baby to sleep!
I like it but I am partial to black and white as decor colors.
