It's something that just about every home has (at least one, if not more!), and while the price varies from manufacturer to manufacturer, chances are yours cost a nice chunk of change. There's something you can be doing a few times a year — the sort of task that's incredibly easy to do and you can do fast and for free — that will make this item last longer. This weekend, cross this super simple task off your home to-do list.
This Weekend's Assignment:
Flip or rotate your mattress(es)!
Though newer designs and recent technology are coming up with ways to make better constructed mattresses that last long, you still have to do a little upkeep. Along with the occasional vacuum of your mattress, you should be regularly flipping and rotating it. This will make sure your mattress gets an even wear, which will keep it from getting damaged, sagging and keep it more comfortable to sleep on longer.
There are no real instructions to give on flipping or rotating your mattress — just strip your bed, flip or rotate the mattress on its frame and ask for help if you need it! Mattresses should be flipped every three or four months, so the start of a new season is a perfect time. Flipping your mattress should only take a moment or two, and we do suggest vacuuming it since you'll have your bedding off!
