Q: Awhile back I ordered the Ikea Minnen bed. We have since moved away from any Ikea before we could buy a mattress that fits it. Now we live so far away from any Ikea (4 hours being the closest one). What size mattress do I use?
I bought a crib mattress (stupidly before measuring the bed) so sure it would fit and it was a huge fail. Even at the smallest setting there is still at least 10 inches or more at the sides and bottom of the mattress. I don't want my daughter rolling off the mattress only to fall on the wooden boards that support the mattress. What do I do?? Help!

As far as I know Ikea have their own sizes, best to go to any upholstery company. They can make you any size mattress.
IKEA has online sales through their website and they ship to your home. Am I missing something about why that's not an option?
The IKEA website shows the mattress dimensions and it seems they, while not exact, are very close to a standard twin size. You should measure the bed platform on your bed, then visit a store and measure a twin mattress. If the twin is only a little larger & has soft sides, you might be able to make it work (though the sheets might be harder to change if it's really smooshed into the frame).
Bummer that IKEA sizes are often just unique enough such that standard things, like mattresses and lampshades, that you could otherwise buy elsewhere, sometimes don't fit. As with my other post, I again feel like I'm kinda stating the obvious here, so it's very possible you've already tried this and it didn't work for you. Good luck
