Looking for a new task lamp can be a very boring proposition. It's easy to assume that there's nothing new under the sun and just go with the first decent-looking apparatus at the nearest home store, but this one from Pottery Barn (not the first place we usually look) caught our eye.

The half-hexagon shape distinguishes it from similar vintage versions (searching for a vintage task lamp, now, that is our idea of a good time, but that's another story altogether), and the broad shade lends a bit of industrial chic.

Blurgh! This is the THIRD Pottery Barn related post on AT today. What is going on? What I'd give for an IKEA post right now!
I wonder if it's because PB is everywhere right now. They send me at least one email every day, and three of their catalogs showed up in my mailbox this weekend. I hope they're not in trouble, they sure seem to be doing everything they can to get everybody's attention. They're probably under everyone's noses at AT, too.
very shiny.....
oooh i like.
Well, it is called the "Maxwell" Desk Lamp!
i usually hate desk lamps but this one is good lookin'
Yeah its good looking, because it looks just like a lamp that DWR is now offering. I can't find it on their website but its in their new catalog.
Ugg... There really is nothing new under the sun.
Nice enough, but it takes up more desk space than I can afford.
The way it's tilted in that bottom photo, it would glare right into your face and you wouldn't be able to read. I think this is pretty, but not a practical desk or reading lamp -- too short overall, too wide a shade, and not enough room for adjustments.
