Maxwell's Bed Makeover Tips:

Use a headboard. Whether your headboard is big and padded, or is simply a stripe of paint behind your bed, you need something to ground the space. Unless your overall look is super minimal, nothing says "dorm room" faster than a bed on a white wall. If you are the kind of person who likes to switch your bedding up, get a neutral headboard. That way, it will always go with everything, no matter your mood.

Get bedding that speaks to you. Make sure your bedding is something that you want to jump into each night. And don't be afraid to change it up! You don't wear the same outfit every day. Your bed doesn't want to either.

Don't forget art and accessories. Candles, flowers, art, photos. Surround yourself with things that make you feel happy, peaceful, and centered. Mix your materials: wood, metal, fabric, wool, cotton. Contrasts make a room come alive. Don't forget to have several points of light: add a sconce or a bedside lamp to set the mood.

Add in one personal item. There's no easier way to make a room looked lived in and loved than adding in something sentimental or meaningful to you. Don't feel like you have to hide that teddy bear away. Bedrooms shouldn't be too serious. You should always have a little fun.
