A month ago we moved from a 3rd floor Brownstone apartment without garden access into a Victorian house in Brooklyn with a perfect little garden! Having been starved of a private gardening space, I went straight to work planting flowers in a small bed. I wanted to inspire our daughters and share with them the joy of gardening, since this was their first experience with their very own back yard.

Through Fall and Spring we had been building Fairy Houses in Prospect Park, and as this is a public space our fairy houses were usually not there when we returned the next day. I was inspired to make a Fairy House that we could build on all summer long. We have lots of found objects decorating the space: shells, rocks, bells, buttons, pine cones. Whenever we are out and about we find things to take home for the Fairy Garden. Maya, our 4-year-old calls it the "Fairy Botanical Gardens."
