Maytag definitely isn't an unfamiliar name when it comes to the household washers and dryers, but when we heard they started adding a "Fresh Hold" option to their Performance line and list of already pimped out features, we had to know what the hubbub was about...
Apparently the new tech does more than prevent freshness from going out, but - hey, lazy people.. listen up! - allows for extended periods of end-wash clothes sitting for hours on end without ever smelling like mildew. This feat is achievable via dynamic venting: the washer uses a fan, combined with a tumble cycle, to eliminate moisture that would normally still be in the washer after the clothes were washed.
Now all you have to do is explain to your significant other why the clothes have been sitting in the washer for 8 hours...
The Performance line of washers and dryers are particularly efficient with keeping water usage to a minimum and using a sensor in their dryers to cut down cycles when unnecessarily overestimated by the user.
The "Fresh Hold" option will be added to the 450, 550, and 950 Performance models. Prices start at $1,199.
