Measuring Up: Is Bigger Better?

There is a saying in the field of design that goes something like this: Big can always be bigger, and small can always be smaller; and when in doubt, the should be. We've been noticing a big Big trend lately: large-scaled printed wallpaper, sofas upholstered in strong, graphic prints with huge shapes, and bedding designs have gone from petite to explosions of bigger patterns. It seems as though the easiest way to incorporate this trend to is to pull together solid colors (or small enough patterns) with these big patterns--too much could be a downward slope to gawdyville. What do you think? How would you work a big pattern in your room?
