Media Bench by Utility Furniture

In a time when most of us are developing a been-there-seen-that attitude toward modernist furnishings, this media bench by Utility Furniture is a breath of fresh air. It has the pure lines you expect in a contemporary piece, but the slatted walnut front and sides give it a slight rough-and-tumble look reminiscent of shipping pallets. (Also: We're suckers for anything on casters.)

Made of solid walnut with a Corian top, this is a versatile piece that could serve equally well as a coffee table, hallway bench, or even seating and storage in a kids' room.

And because this is Kitchens and Baths month at Apartment Therapy, if you like this piece by Utility, you should know that they also design and build kitchens and other cabinetry.

Utility Furniture is based in Vancouver, BC, but the company is currently undergoing a branding change. They'll be re-launching as Park Studio at ICFF in New York on May 16-19. For now, though, you can see more of the studio's products on their website.
