Ahh, the Mediterranean getaway. It's a dream destination for many, and no wonder; this (relatively) small body of water is home to some seriously stylish resorts. From the coast of Italy to the islands of Greece, no one does serene, luxe relaxation quite like the Med.
So, what inspiration can we "take home" from the decor in these lovely resorts? Well, lots of white works wonders, as do simple wood or upholstered furniture, pops of cool blue and stone or whitewashed floors. Oh, and an uninterrupted view of azure water helps, too.

The foremost inspiration I take home is that of the vacation schedule in most European countries. I'm very fortunate to have stayed in similar wonderful places in both Santorini and Amalfi because when we lived in Europe, we lived by their vacation schedule -- school holidays for a week in each of fall, winter and spring, in addition to Easter and Christmas, and a couple of odd local holidays.
My husband was a North American schedule, but had so much overtime banked that we were always able to take these weeks. They are such a gift.
Another part of the gift is to be able to immerse yourself into a different lifestyle and aesthetic for that week; by immersing myself in it, and knowing that I can visit it any time, I tended to *not* take it home with us, except for the odd regional speciality -- linens, a liqueur or wine, perfume, and so forth.
Gosh, with the post on Paris yesterday and this today, I just want to move back to my old life!
same here, originally from Europe we used to go in September when the children were back in school and the temp was not too hot, best time of year.
Beautiful places!
Some of the Santorini pics above just scream Greece. I'm homesick now. Sigh.
ooooo love this!
LOVELY! Gosh I cant wait to go on holiday....34 more days.
That first picture... wow. I'd love to stretch out in that bed and have a nice nap in the sunshine.
