Angie came on board a few months ago to write a "Decoding Household Chemicals" column, and her thorough research and sense of humor made her posts a big hit. Now that she's given that column a rest, you'll find her writing about multi-functional furniture and accessories perfect for design-conscious small space dwellers.

Meet Angie

You most enjoy writing about… Topics on indoor air quality, personal care, multifunctional furniture and ceramics.

Your personal home style is… Modernist, East Asian and comfortable.

Your green home must-have is… Outdoor access in the form of a balcony, patio or yard. I need room for dirty activities (not the sexy kind)! Activities like cutting wood, growing plants, and painting projects.

Your ideal Saturday morning is… Sharing a delicious brunch with friends in sunny weather, wearing a big smile and a good outfit.

What's on your nightstand? A ceramic owl lamp, a book called the Essential Visual History of the World, my iPod Touch (always), one coaster made of a single blue ceramic tile, and Mad Libs, because grammar and giggles go hand in hand.

Where you go for inspiration/info/help? With the internet, the world is my oyster. Favorite books: Data Flow: Visualizing Information in Graphic Design, Pictorial Webster's: A Visual Dictionary of Curiosities, Essential Visual History of the World, Jonathan Adler books, Elle Décor magazine, Kelly Wearstler books, but I'll stop now because I'm about to run away with myself and take up too much space.

DIY or buy? Both! All the way. On one hand, we all don't possess the skills or tools to DIY beautiful design. It's good to support pro designers, artisans and artists. On the other hand, I'm all in favor of the resourceful spirit of DIY, especially on tastefully executed projects. (Let's not forget Regretsy!)

Favorite CFL or LED lightbulb brand? I always buy my light bulbs from IKEA, but I'm always open to the latest and greatest bulbs. An important factor for me in buying CFLs is color temperature. The first generation of CFLs were always very cold (blue-ish). Cold light kills the mood at night.

Favorite green paint brand and color? I've been renting for years so I don't have a favorite paint brand. However, my favorite paint colors are blues and yellows.

This year you're going to… Visit the bike-friendly city of Portland, restore my adult tricycle, and grow another tree indoors.
