Liz is another one of our Green Tour contributors, and because she splits her time between Brooklyn and Kenya, we're able to see both a wonderful mix of New York homes as well as the gorgeous Kenyan cottage you see above. In addition to doing Green Tours for Re-Nest, Liz also contributes to The Kitchn, where her amazing food photography always steals the show.

Meet Liz

You most enjoy writing about: beautiful homes by creative people, which show that green design can be both stylish and affordable.

Your personal home style is: not nearly as put together as the gorgeous spaces I photograph. Doing home tours has given me a deep craving for a large, open kitchen and a rustic, wooden farm table (both totally practical for my rented walk-up).

Your green home must-have is: lots of light and place to grow plants, both inside and out. My windowsill herbs and fruit get me through to spring, when I plant a ridiculous number of vegetables on my postage-stamp patio.

Your ideal Saturday morning is: a visit to my neighborhood farmer's market, and cooking all day for dinner with friends.

What's on your nightstand? Dozens of bangles, which my husband brings back for me from his travels around the world.

Where you go for inspiration/info/help? Design*Sponge, New York Magazine, New York Times LENS blog, Unhappy Hipsters (keeps me from taking my photos too seriously).

DIY or buy? Living in New York doesn't leave a lot of room for stuff, so we buy very little.

Favorite CFL or LED lightbulb brand? Don't have one.

Favorite green paint brand and color? After my landlord found out I painted my kitchen apple green, I had to lay off the painting for a while.

This year you're going to: go to India for the first time, take cooking classes, throw regular dinner parties, and take more photos.
