MaryAnne loves a good creative reuse idea, and she's not shy about sharing her thrifty finds with Re-Nest readers and offering her take on easy home tips for greener living.
You most enjoy writing about: Creative re-use projects and green tips that play an ongoing role in my life.
Your personal home style is: Salvaged meets sophisticated. Lots of secondhand, heirloom, and roadside finds alongside original art and a collection of cats (3 of them!)
Your green home must-have is: Potted plants, inside and out.
Your ideal Saturday morning is: Coffee on the balcony with the feline friends at my feet, followed by a big English breakfast.
What's on your nightstand? AdoraDormi lavender/flaxseed eye pillow, Spare Parts by Montreal author Gail Scott, a mason jar of water with the lid on tight (to prevent the inevitable cat related spills).
Where you go for inspiration/info/help: Chatting with friends and family, Real Simple Magazine, Inhabitat.org, Youtube, HGTV, CBC Radio.
DIY or buy? DIY
Favorite CFL or LED lightbulb brand? Depends what is on sale, though to be honest this isn't something I buy often. That is what's so great about them!
Favorite green paint brand and color? CIL Naturaliving Semi-Gloss in white. It's super versatile and I always have a just-in-case can around for impromptu projects.
In 2011 you're going to: Launch a new website for Misssoka (an eco-design label I co-run with the talented Dana Dal Bo), move to Ottawa (new space to redecorate - hazzah!) and continue the millions of DIY preparations for my September wedding!
