While we prefer the comfort of our home office, there are still times when we have to take our work on the road. Ideally, a luxury office on wheels like the Mercedes above would be the way we'd want to work while on the road, but we'll have to settle for a more modest selection of mobile tech tools...
RAM POD I iPad Dash Mount ($56.98)
The RAM POD is a no-drill solution to mounting your iPad in your car. There are fancier ways, but most require some serious dashboard work. The RAM POD is easy to use, with a simple wingnut to remove if you need to change from portrait to landscape. It also doesn't get in the way of passengers or stuff in the passenger seat. Our only complaint is the need to remove the case (if you've got yours wrapped up of course), but that's minor.
Parrot Minikit Bluetooth Speakerphone ($39.99)
Calling on the road is dangerous enough and we wouldn't dare text and drive, but our car didn't come with built in bluetooth so this is our favorite retrofit. It slips over the visor above the driver's seat next to our garage door opener, and we even take it inside when we feel like boosting our phone's audio power at home.
LunaTik Touch Pen ($30)
Of course space is a key consideration when on the road, the more you can combine the less space it's going to take up in your car. The LunaTik Touch Pen is the only writing utensil we need. One second we're sketching a diagram to explain a concept and the next we can sign nondisclosure agreements. Utterly efficient.
Fujitsu Scansnap ($189.99)
Sometimes we work with companies that have a paper addiction. We curbed that long ago, but still need to make the physical digital so we bring this tiny bar along to make everyone happy. It sits comfortably in the seat next to us with room to spare for lunch. Now all we need is a portable shredder.
What do you bring on the road with you? Tell us in the comments.
