- What do you love about your bedroom?:
- I love the high ceilings, large windows and the mainly white color palette with pops of turquoise...it feels calming, airy and happy!
- What are your tips for creating a beautiful, healthy and organized bedroom?
- I like the effect of mixing old with new and incorporating meaningful objects to make the space feel personal. I think it's important to keep the bedroom tidy and uncluttered to promote a restful and calming atmosphere - purge stuff you don't need, dedicate a place for everything and take advantage of storage under the bed and vertical space in closets.
- In modern homes, bedrooms have become more than just a place to sleep; they can be a retreat, a home office, a library, a relaxation zone. What are some ways you make the most of your bedroom?
- I live in a small studio loft so every square inch of space counts! To free up floor space for a desk area, I changed the orientation of the bed, positioning the long side against the wall. This also makes the bed feel more like a daybed, creating a more casual space that can be used for lounging and relaxing. Since I have no walk-in closet, I carved out a dressing area between the closet and the bed and repurposed my old china cabinet as a storage unit for jewelery and accessories.

So pretty! Can I ask what type of curtain rod system you are using? It looks like it's attached to the concrete ceiling.
I love that rug! Great job on the room!
I would love to see the rest of the space!
Beautiful! I would love to see the rest of the space!
House call?? Yes, please AT.
I LOVE your bedspread. Is it vintage?
This bedroom is Gorgeous! Is that bed long enough for an adult?
Just re-read the post and saw the comment about the bed orientation. Nice!
Stunning bedroom! Love your clever use of space!
Where is the rug from? Really pretty!
I love this! Definitely my favorite so far. Also, I have the same desk that I got for free but mine is covered in paint. I am inspired to strip it!
Functional, beautiful, smart architectural elements on the wall above your bed. House tour please.
Very pretty. I have a similar china cabinet, and I like that you have used yours in the bedroom. Very nice room!
yes, house tour please! this is a lovely space....
Beeeutiful!
All of this is so appealing. I love the ceilings. I think my favorite pic is the last one with the turquoise candles in the pewter holders looking into the room with the great chandelier.
Very nicely done. I had that same chenille bedspread when I was growing up, only I made my mother dye it purple. Seeing yours reminds me of how much better it looked when it was white.:)
Une belle chambre! I think the rug is a ghazni. My vote goes to Montreal!
Very nice! Good job.
As a fellow montrealer, I say Bravo Mélanie, c'est superbe!
I luv your style!!! You inspire me
what a carefully crafted and curated space...look forward to seeing more!
The rug caught my eye too and normally I can take or leave that type. I'm also curious about the 'other room' wall art I spied. Nicely done, so added my vote.
love this room - so comfy, eclectic and visually appealing. those windows! plus, j'adore montréal. i add my vote to seeing the rest of the space. great job!
Gorgeous!
Would love to see the rest of the place. If there are more pictures of your apartment anywhere in the net, please post a link.
Very nice and clean looking room. Excellent job!
Where are those baskets from? I've been searching all over the city!
Imperial Lofts in St. Henri? :) Your bedroom in awesome Melanie, the picture with the desk and the huge window won me over!
This is so beautiful. Amazing, cozy, and luxe. I'm with maielei, a whole apartment tour needs to follow...please :)
If that is a cement ceiling, then I am so super jealous right now.
I love your capiz chandelier and those woven baskets. Are they from the Philippines?
Thanks! The curtain rod is not attached to the ceiling, it's a basic system from Ikea I think
Thanks everyone for the nice feedback :) I'll try to reply to some of the questions here. The chenille blanket is vintage, picked up at the Christie's Antique Show in Dundas Ontario....there is a booth there every year that sells only vintage chenille. The desk was my father's childhood desk, then it became mine, it's served many functions over the years and I love it's simplicity. I think it would be nice painted but my dad would kill me :) The rug is the only splurge item in the room, it's a chobi, purchased at Ten Thousand Villages. Baskets were found on sale a few years back at a great shop in Pointe Claire Village called Revive Decor I think. The chandelier was purchased in Vancouver, from Indonesia.
Thanks Maielei, there are a few photos on my pinterest "Melanie Eve" under "House of M.E.". I hope to post more on my blog, but I just started it so you could check back in a few months www.curateyourspace.wordpress.com

Hands down my favorite AT bedroom. I love the juxtaposition of new and old, European and ethnic influences. Brava on your win, Mélanie - well deserved!
