- What I Love About My Small Home:
- I am in love with my one big window! I really don't like artificial light, so this window was an answer to my prayers. I find myself leaving the drapes open at all times of the day, it is looks really nice in the evening as well!
- Biggest Challenge of Living in a Small Space
- Designing a home that felt complete and balanced without feeling cluttered. Which ultimately resulted in me strategically putting up shelving and custom building my main seating area, which I like to call my "one-seat" (because it can only fit one person)!

This is great! Very impressive use of space. I want to live here!
It's so cute! Great organization. Do you have to climb over your chair though to get onto the ladder to the bed?
are the pictures in sepia or is the house that neutral?
Oh, how chic! I'm a girl who enjoys a lot of color, but I am really impressed with how the monochromatic palette really blends your space together seamlessly...no sense of the "choppiness" here that really tiny spaces often have.
I ADORE that clock!
This is really impressive! I love the organization in the kitchen space but does it have a sink?
The color in these photos must have been altered, which makes it hard to judge the true appearance of the space.
Wow, that is a lot white. I do like a splash of colour myself, but I really like this space and how calming it is.
Wow, how can you tell the colors of the pics have been altered? I like what I see,but I would like an answer to my question. Thanks.
210 square feet of pure style! Love it!
So organized! This is a Type A's dream! Love!
This is simply elegant and looks very functional. When I start to feel cramped in my small cottage (much bigger than your space, though) I find this very inspirational! It's what you DO with the space that matters...!
I LOVE this! I do love pops of color but this is just fantastic...monochrome done right! But my favorite is the organization ~~SWOON~~ I love organization; boxes, baskets, and buckets oh my!! :)
Beautiful space! And I'm in love with clock, too!
I really like the white color pallet here. I think it makes the space feel larger. Please that mini bookshelf by the bathroom is adorable:)
Stylish, functional and organized! awsome!
Is that how it really looks like? White and cream, and more white and cream?
This probably would have gotten my vote if the pictures hadn't been altered. Color can really make or break a place, so I don't feel like I can truly tell what it looks like...
yeah its pretty amazing and i would have voted too but the colours don't seem real... i doubt there is literally NO colour at all...but still pretty amazing :D show us what it REALLY looks like, i'm sure its still gorgeous!!
how does that clock work? does it chime at the hour?
So nice and sweet. :)
Is that a toaster oven with hot plates on top?? Your place looks serene and lovely.
I don't think I could pull this off, but so fun to see!
I don't think this has been altered. I had a condo with great light that I decorated with this same palette because I didn't want to upstage the fabulous ocen view. The photos I took of it were unaltered, and looked a lot like this.
I think the real genius here is how she managed to organize everything so aesthetically. The neutral palette definitely helps keep down the visual noise in a small space.
It looks so calming.
I'm also wondering why people are making comments about the photos being altered? They look authentic to me and personally I absolutely love this. It's serene, calming, and timeless. The color palette, furniture, and accessories are gorgeous and the organization...really, I am impressed! Can you tell us what the wall color is and are all the walls the same color? The living room looks a little more grey than the other walls but it may just be the light. It looks like the perfect neutral but warm wall color which I have been looking for months on end but so far has been elusive...
I love the neutral color palette
That has to be the smallest complete living room I've ever seen. I love the clock too. Great job here!
I don't understand why people think the colors have been altered. It looks like natural light to me. There are cool grays and ambers - so it doesn't look sepia-ed and if you look, it doesn't seem like anything is even a candidate for "hidden" colors. It's all black, white, wood, gray, amber, etc.
I think it looks fabulous. The monochromatic makes it possible to stuff a space without going insane. Well done.
As someone who has been to this apartment, I can tell you that the Pictures have NOT been altered with any sort of filter, such as Sepia. What you see is what you get, obviously the perception of the eye and the camera are different, so there is a small difference, but I REPEAT, NO FILTERS were used to modify the color style or pallet. Also, there are many tiny hints in each picture that let you know that the colors are true. Frankly, a bit surprised that the filter "experts" got fooled so easily.
I just decided on the color pallet for my bedroom. Thanks!
So tiny and so lovely. Well done.
where is that clock from!? it's awesome!
Inspiring! I can imagine what this space looked like before and how it was transformed! Must be a good feeling enjoying something you created evreryday.
I don't know how you made it work but you did. This is what the Small Cool contest should be about. You obviously can't compete with 900 sqft, it doesn't make sense, but put up against something of similar and then you have a competition.
This space is smaller than my flagstone patio and it looks fabulous! It lacks for nothing and looks very comfortable. Great job!
Wdf!?!?! Could your home be any cuter?
great job of organization and it looks warm and inviting. I've just moved into a 300sq. ft. space and your space is a great inspiration--thank you
I love what you've done, but I'm getting claustrophobia just looking at some of these places. (That's not a criticism; if anything, it's a comment on how impressed I am at what you've managed.)
This is my favourite of all the entries that I actually could be bothered signing in and voting. This place is inspiring, warm and all the touches are well thought of.
So sweet!
KBFROMLB, thanks for sharing your similar experience with color/lighting/photographing, in a nice way (and helping those of us who thought the pictures weren't accurate)! I stand corrected.
Wow! You are so talented, wish you could design my place like this!
Neutrals and whites go so well in this space.
While I do love some neutral tones, this is a little much. But great job of getting everything to fit so seamlessly in such a small space!
You literally live in one of Ikea's 200 st ft apartment displays... it's amazing.
Well done. Well done indeed.
I love that you have room for a crafting area - definite a vote from me on that point alone.

excellent use of space; very charming and peaceful
I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone who commented and who had such wonderful things to say! And Thank you so much to those who actually voted for me! To answer some of the questions in regards to the clock, I created the extended addition with bells, the clock I found at the ever so lovely Target! No, I do not have a kitchen sink just a sink in the bathroom, and yes (LOL) I do have to step on my "oneseat" to get up the stairs! And there are three wall colors: white, creme and gray! Thank you again!:)
so peaceful and lovely! wowowowowowowow!!
It's like walking into a fluffy cloud! Wow!
Since the palette is such a defining element, it seems like the colors should be represented realistically, and not digitally altered. Especially because it's a contest. (I'm surprised AT doesn't have rules about that.)
That said, I adore the space, especially the kitchen.
like the sunshine through on white
Mel, I am very impressed with the functional aesthetic you create. I think that you would be able make any space work and look fantastic while doing so!
I LOVE the workspace - where did you get the table and the filing cabinet next to it? Also what is the storage underneath the table. I really need a workspace like that so I'm brainstorming ideas. Thanks!
I want to get an RV/motor home the size of a van (a class B) and this is my inspiration to make it seem less awful on the inside! Love your space.
