Last night, a series of clicks across the Internet led us to the digital archives of Western Interiors magazine, where we found a Mexican beach house by a Chicago designer. (Thanks, global network.) This home is the unmistakable work of designer extraordinaire and former Small Cool judge Kara Mann. She has a knack for combining modern and traditional styles with a little bit of arty edge...
Although we missed the print edition, we found the full spread online in Western Interiors' October/November 2008 issue. We admire the neutral color palette, the bright details, and the view...but those studded wing chairs from Dennis & Leen are definitely our favorite part of this home.
One of the things we appreciate most about Mann's work is the sense that her interiors aren't overly decorated or styled. Accessories are kept to a minimum, and breathing space is preserved in each room.
Many of the home's textiles and furnishings were commissioned from local artists. For the full article from Western Interiors, click here.
