When I moved to San Francisco, I knew that the living would be on the small side! I was pleasantly surprised by finding a small apartment with so much character already inside it. My studio apartment has crown molding all around, original hardwoods, vaulted ceilings, and a really adorable 1920s built-in that I use for storage and all of my many graphic design books. I love all the natural light that floods my main room, it really makes the space feel light, airy, and a lot bigger than it actually is. I love my separate kitchen through the hallway, it also makes the space feel larger.
Three of My Best Tips and Tricks for Creating a Successful Small Space::
Three of my best tips that have really helped my small space: 1. Find and utilize natural light, and for me, having a mostly white room just compliments and reflects all of my natural light. 2. Plants make a small space feel bigger, and more lived-in. 3. Don't have too much furniture. Place chairs with space to breathe, and allow parts of your small space to be "empty." Creating that visual space will definitely help make your space feel larger as well. 4. Art, art, and more art that expresses who you are.
