Wow! Love the rounded-back carved wooden chairs. I'm guessing they're East African (?) Is that a working fireplace? If so, how do you keep it so clean? Love the arched doorways... altogether the effect is quite dramatic.
This is very well done and exciting most likely it would be better in person, love the art.
The decor and colors work well with the style of house being southern Texas and so close to Nuevo Laredo makes sense. Also, living part time in San Miguel one of my heart felt favorite places I can see why you would want to bring the feel and style back to your main house.
I love the art in San Miguel de Allende and nice to be able to purchase some furniture from Mexico and bring it to the states.
One of my favorite places and wish I could of purchased furniture and art from is Fabrica La Aurora, just don't have the right house.
Love this entry 10 votes!
This is the strongest entry that I have seen yet. Bold, bright and sophisticated. Love it!!!
Now that's what I'm talkin' bout! Excellent use of color!
I'm not normally into such bright colors in a room, but this is so well done. I love it.
My personal fave! :)
Beautiful and elegant use of bold color! Best entry so far!
I wasn't even going to open this link from the thumbnail view, but I'm sooo glad I did! How gorgeous!! You have such a unique sense of style...
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the dining area set up.
All I can Say is AMAZING!!!
I absolutely love it!!!!
WOW.......the Mexican decor is mindboglingly fantastic.
This one is my favorite!
OLE'
Wow!!! Very daring and original.
I love the reflection of the colour in the wood of the table. Great choice of colours, Michael!
OH, NO HE DIDN'T!
This room makes a statement like no other I have ever seen.
I have had the privilege of visiting the home and each room has the same sense of boldness and creativity. Even the bathrooms and guest house are an adventure in colorful expression. This room is perhaps the most expressive as the bedrooms are understandably more subdued. Congratulations on an excellent entry. And the winner is.....
I'm trying to find the right turquoise paint. Can you tell me what you used?
oh my damn! this is so so awesome. the colors are bright and they each have a strong blue-base that keeps them from taxing the eye. are there skylights at the edges of the rooms? when the contest is over you must send a house tour! i want in that pink kitchen.
muchisimas gracias, usted!
I have a degree from Parsons myself and when I first saw Michael's house I knew this was one of the most special places I had ever visited. Michael has a style with color that grabs the entire touch of a country and has used it as a background for incredible furniture and accessories that creates an A delight.

Absolutely lovely!
(And I say this as someone who thrives on the color gray...)
Just makes me yearn for another visit!
Michael's colors are without peer.
Michael's art collection is superb with all that color...is that a gold painted cow skull..who is the artist?
Michael does phenomenal work and this is a winning entry. Too bad viewers can't see the rest of this beautiful home as well, with Michael's wonderful choices of design and colour. Well done Sudheer!
Outstanding! .
Michael has a wonderful sense of color & design. He definetly gets my vote.

I have been in this beautiful home and it is truly a masterpiece of vibrant, living colors.
I give Michael my vote most certainly!!!!

Dang, I'm with TheoJ. This room is gorgeous, my favorite entry yet. But this sudden weird flood of comments from non-regulars has my dander up. Not voting as a protest.
Wow viva Mexico!
I love the colors, the furniture, and those large, beautiful windows!
I agree, the room IS gorgeous. The only flaw is the turquoise and fuchsia paint color.
An ungodly color combination that only a nine year old girl could love.
shirley-temple-of-doom...it is appropriate that you have doom in your name...it explains your lack of color sense......
It bought me right back to you beautiful home....
What a guy!!! Thanks S.
thumbs UP!!
I have had the privledge of living in Michael's home for three weeks and found it one of the most satisfying relaxed and astounding experiences I have ever had. The house creates wonderful moods all during the day with the changing light and color.
So gorgeous and original. Great use of color.
I've experience the joy of being in Michael's home. His choice of colors, furnishings, art and textures create an environment that is soothing and nurturing to one's soul.
LoveLamp, play nice with the people who actually contribute to this board.
I have visited this home. Every room is a delightful surprise with WOW color and great charm. It's the best of Mexican color paired with exquisite taste and sense of design.
Michael has a fabulous sense of color and design. A winner!
Michael's home has such a happy spirit and I love every part of it.
Keep coming back to see these colors, my two favorites from the giant crayola box. Great job.
Gorgeous turquoise! Beautiful home.
Fun, funky and fabulous! My favorite part of this is the piece of art on the blue wall. I love the way the art disappears into the wall but somehow pops at the same time.
I was unable to place a vote because the voting period has passed. Michael, although these are not colors that I would choose. This room is an inspiration because of the thought and care you took to connect the room with color which I feel is the point of the color contest. The colors relate to the furniture and art and adding contrasting color under the arch is creative. You deserve to be on top of the entries for this year. So, a belated thumbs up from me.
Dang! I missed the voting, but I have just two words for this entry: Numero Uno!
I have not seen anything yet that comes close.
Despite really disliking the colors right off the bat, I opened the link because I have been surprised by some of these before. Some of my favorite spaces in this contest are designed with colors and furnishings that never in a million years would I chose for my own home. So, I was expecting to find something in this that I could really appreciate...then I saw the leopard print chairs and the mirror that appears to be framed in shag carpeting (it's not really, is it?) and I winced. Yikes. I could, as I'm sure someone will remind me, keep my humble (and unprofessional) opinion to myself, but I feel like there has been quite a bit of praise coming from Michael's friends and not a whole lot of honest, unbiased response from the AT community. I can't be the only one who is turned off by this. Michael, I think this is a really bold room, and I am sincerely glad that you love it. It does not matter at all what I or anyone else thinks...until you enter it in a contest.
Dear tmoore,
Time for an eye check up...that is not shag carpeting but hand tooled metal roses surrounding the mirror. From witnessing this contest, I have come to the conclusion that most of this voting community is not very worldly...and is highly influenced by TV decorating shows...the majority of these spaces are dangerously ho-hum...I know a good optometrist should you choose to train your eyes...
I'm sorry to have offended you so, LoveLamp! Since there was no close up or even head-on shot of the mirror, it is pretty difficult to make out the "hand tooled metal roses", regardless of my eyesight. You're really very silly. Why do you feel that it is necessary to hurl insults at those who do not agree with your assessment of this space?
I think it is hideous. Get over it.
I love this room and the colors. My only critique is I feel that there are too many small-scale accessories and lighting throughout the whole space and it makes it seem too busy for a room that already makes such a statement with the walls. LOVE your furniture.
And why are people being attacked for giving their honest opinion??? Even I sense a weird agenda going on here compared to the other entries I've seen and I've only been a member for 2 days.
