- What I Love About My Small Home:
- I divide my time between Madison and Brooklyn. Each of my places is 999 square feet. With this living arrangement I feel in control of my possessions and finances dealing with 2 properties. My place in Madison is convenient from a location and amenities standpoint. Heated garage, coffee shop and gym in or near the building.
- Biggest Challenge of Living in a Small Space
- I like the challenge of creating a small space that still feels spacious. Clutter control is key. Hide clutter behind doors and inside drawers. Living small has taught me to be disciplined about controlling the amount of furniture and the amount of clothes inside the apartment. I still manage to have 200 shirts in my closet. Still...if something comes in, something has to go.

Michiel, I guess...
I would not consider 999 sq. ft. small but it's a nice space.
It's not small even if it's for two people, let alone for one person...
confused. is the furniture moved around between pic 2 and pic 3? i like the touches of red.
Doesn't seem small at all. The raised bookshelves make it seem very cluttery in the first picture.
Does anyone know where the apple pear art is from? Thanks
The contest is clear that anything below 1,000 square feet qualifies as an entry, so even though it isn't small for one or two people, it's a perfectly valid entry.
@ARLIZ - Not sure, but I am extremely confident you could DIY that.
I love this apartment. I would love to have this space. The rooms are perfectly laid out - what needs to be part of an open floor plan is and what should have it's own walls does. Fabulous kitchen, too.
i think it's gorgeous.
a favorite for sure! love the modern, masculine stlye!
Where is the TV stand from?
I really never get this thing of having a breakfast bar with stools and a dining table right next to each other - it's redundant. Pick one or the other.
