Do you have a Microcenter near you? They are the ultimate destination for anyone looking to upgrade, repair or build their own computer or entertainment center. It's packed with every cable, connector, part, piece, tool and new-fangled doo-dad that you could ever need. Check it out!
Microcenter is home to every part, piece or plug you could possibly require when working on your own electronics. They also sell GPS units, printers, computers, televisions, are an Apple dealer and have you more than covered when it comes to gaming.
It doesn't matter if you're looking to build or repair something yourself or wanting to walk in and pick up a product off the shelf that's plug and play, they've got you covered. Just in case you need someone else to look at your equipment, they also have a functioning repair department as well. You can order online or head into the store, either way there's a good chance you'll find a great deal.
This Microcenter is located in Overland Park, KS and even though we live a good distance from the store, we still travel out when the need arises. Check to see if there's a store in your area and make sure to sign up for their mailing list... gooooo sales!

as big of a city as Houston is, I am totally shocked that we have only 1 Micro Center. We have 3 Fry's, a glut of Best Buys and Wal-Marts. Its a shame... real tradgedy
My husband loves Microcenter. I love that they will happily take returns on all sorts of stuff for when you inevitably run into that new computer part that doesn't work right. About a million times easier than trying to return something through an online store, but with similar selection and prices to what you'll find online anyway.
I have been to the Cambridge Micro Center a few times. To be quite frank, I've had a horrid experience every time. It's not the store itself or the selection, but the salespeople. The store was understaffed, the staff is apathetic, and a lot of them make things up as they go along. Granted, there were one or two knowledgeable and friendly staff members, but they were few and far between. I will however admit that they offer good deals, often beating Newegg on prices for motherboards and processors.
Really Microcenter? Really? A store in Detroit but not Phoenix?
It's OK. I understand. After all there's only a population of about 4.3 million in the Phoenix metro area. I'll keep schlepping to Fry's for mediocre customer service and mediocre prices or shop on Newegg.
Sorry, it just bugs me that phoenix is always the forgotten stepchild when it comes to companies opening here.
I've been to the very same store seen in the photo above, but I'm with the first commenter. I'm really surprised they don't have more locations. If the drive isn't bad, it's the amount of traffic you have to ford through in order to get there, especially on Metcalf where this store is located. Every time I see a new construction site break ground near me, I hope and wish for a new Microcenter so I dont have to travel 50 miles round trip, but alas.
I think a given metro area can support only a limited number of stores like Microcenter or Fry's. Just not that much of a market, and online price pressures mean the margins can't be increased to make up for it.
We've got one Micro Center in the Twin Cities, and it's okay. Honestly, I'd rather have a Fry's because they have a wider selection of the higher-quality (but more expensive) commercial-grade products, while Micro Center focuses on more consumer-level hardware. Considering this area is supposed to be one of the most tech-savvy spots in the country, it's pretty frustrating that we've only got Micro Center and a handful of small hole-in-the-wall shops where a person can go and build a computer.
