Photographer Kristopher Chandroo considered the compatibility of babies and mid century design in the course of documenting his daughter's first year. Madelaine has spent her first 365 days on earth as a child-safety inspector for her house, defying gravity and indulging her father's sense of humor (with a little help from Photoshop).
Reconciling a love of design and practical family concerns is a perennial hot topic at Apartment Therapy, and this series is a sweet reminder to all of us to lighten up. At the end of the day, a house is as baby-friendly as the people who live there. While we might be perpetually behind the eight ball on childproofing, parents address concerns as they arise and furnish their home with things they love.

That third image reminds me of the Farbman on Seinfeld.
"photograph the baby on the eames"........some hipsters need to get a life
HAHAHAHAHA! I am with EDMUNDD on this!
ha ha awesome. definitely different baby photography.
googled this: http://500px.com/madelaine
Get a life? He is an awesome photographer who shares what he loves with spending time with his daughter. Sounds like a pretty awesome life to me!
Photoshopping your kid to be randomly hovering above a lamp or hanging out of shelving is just weird for the sake of weird. It's a baby not a staging prop.
Some of his images on his site are sweet and show a nice moment with his baby, but most are just silly and trying too hard to make a statement. I went to art school and saw enough of this stuff of people trying way too hard to stand out to last a lifetime. Cute baby though :)
I like the strangeness of the photos of the baby hovering in the air or balancing in on the back of the sofa. I think it adds some play to these midcentury designs that may be given too much reverence.
The idea is brilliant but the photos, particularly the 4 you chose to showcase, seem amateurish. I can't get past the poor lighting and lack of crispness to the photos. I've been following Jason Lee's photo journal of his two daughters (http://kristinandkayla.blogspot.ca/) so I've seen Photoshop used with humor and great skill. Nice concept though. A few of the photos on KC's site could be on the Unhappy Hipsters site.
So he photoshopped himself tossing the baby into the air out of the picture, but neglected to photoshop out his arm's shadow? S:
I think the photos are cute and clever. He seems to love his daughter, design, and photography. Why not combine all three? Plus, he's showing that one doesn't have to surrender one's home or style just because a child (a very cute one at that) has arrived on the scene.
I just love the third one! The baby's expression is just adorable!
