Does the MidCentury digs above look familiar? You might recognize it from the film Running With Scissors. Or if you're really real estate aware, you'd know it belongs to Star magazine gossip columnist, Janet Charlton. Her David Hyun (AIA) designed Hancock Park home is now on the market for a stratospheric price that puts the 5 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms in the same category as the movies: make believe. More photos and details under the jump...
There's a lot of inspiration inside this temple to MidCentury decor, especially the dreamy palette of soft 1950's colours with the 1960's-70's shapes. But we'd have to agree with the Real Estalker, the overall effect does come off too "much mid-century modern furniture store than it does a modern home". Still, who wouldn't want to sip cocktails and nosh on some rumaki in that living room? We're indeed far from heaven.
A little bit more about Janet Charlton and her home here.

This place is trying too hard. I would have to dial it back a notch to be comfortable here. It looks like a set for Austen Powers.
"This is my happening, and it freaks me out!"
OMG! It looks like a computer generated image. Beautiful, perfect, and eerily unreal.
The decor is tragically O.T.T. Boomerang - She has some great pieces, but there's no cohesiveness or balance...
...and the driveway is just a mess.
As big a fan of Piet Mondrian I may be, this looks like he puked allover the room. Over. Load.
And by puke, I mean Barf.
I love Mid-Century Modern, but this place looks like a time capsule or a museum. Terrible. The Stereo room looks like a spread in Architectural digest in 1965.
Beautiful structure. But who wants to live in a showroom, especially a showroom with an awful color palette??
Mid-Century Modern overload here! Nothing wrong with having some Mod items, but this is just a bit too much for my tastes.
