We're suckers for a great bedroom makeover. We talked a great deal about it last week during our Spring Cure and think any effort in the bedroom is time well spent. The bedroom above, although graced with light from the skylights above, was in dire need of something fresh and new — and that's exactly what it got!
Although Daniel & Valeria over at Hindsvik are more known for their home decor Etsy store, their blog and beautiful bedroom makeover has us just head over heels.
Check out the few "before" photos above and then the cool, serene "after" shots that follow. They also made sure to include a bed for their cat, done up in modern stylings as well. When all is said and done it looks like a great space to be a human or a pet!

I thought the "before" was great.
I like both!
This was posted on AT about a year ago.
Looks a big empty.. no?
Love the big white shelving unit, but overall a little too stark for my personal taste.
I'm with ande2994.
The white shelving unit is nice, but the rest of the space looks raw and unfinished, like a renovation in progress rather than a renovation complete.
I DO love the wood, though...
familiar...
I hope they didnt get rid of those great mcm pieces..:_(
Thanks AT! We have since added some colour to the room and added a nice throw blanket on the bed. :) Oh and that Cat Bed too.
I for one like it. Must go home and clean my bedroom.
Snarky comments, collective post-lunch indigestion?
I like the after, and I like the wide planked floor.
Well done and looks like on a reasonable budget. Kill for the cabinets in white.
If you don't get it, you don't get it. It's all ok.
I like the clean, open feel of the room in the after photos, but I have to agree with some people who think it's a bit too stark. I'd love to see the floors a darker wood (closer to the sides of the cabinet) but that's a major job. I was going to suggest pop of color, some simple window treatment and maybe a throw on the bed, but it seems that Hindsvik is on it! I'd love to see some "after-after" photos.
Love it! If you read their blog it does say they aren't finished decorating the room with the finishing touches.
It still has lots of mid century pieces but are well picked and the color scheme is a lot easier on the eyes than the before with what looks like way more light in the room now. I remember the DIY plywood flooring tutorial AT posted on this room a few months ago. Great inspiration, there needs to be more minimal style on AT!
Love the Hindsvik Shop too for vintage wares, esp their furniture!
Yay, attic bedroom! I'm always looking for inspiration for mine.
Wow, it's beautiful. Much more restful than the 'before' decor. I would do all my thinking in this lovely clear, calm room. What a wonderful retreat from a busy world.
Very impressive DIY - wish my husband and I were this clever! They've done an amazing job with a very challenging space.
The only thing that didn't grab me was the whiteboard beside the bed (shown in the pics on the blog.) Maybe a chalkboard instead? Or just a simple solution of pencil and paper?
Enjoyed this very much, thanks for sharing. :0)
Sigh.

Def. not too stark. For me a bedroom should basically contain a bed if you can get away with it, so this is perfect!
Adding to my comment, look how much bigger it looks...
Thanks for the look back Mitbos. Even though we're mentioned it before, there seems to be a great deal of people who missed it the first time around, but we appreciate you keeping us on our toes!
My bedroom is precisely like this and have thought about putting my bed under the slanted roof... Right now, it's positioned, as it were, under the window (in my case I don't have that window, but a skylight in the roof). I've always wondered if a bed under a slanted roof was/is bad fen shui. There are also supportive beams which would "cut off" my feet, if I were to put my bed under the slanted roof... Just wondering...
After looking at their etsy site, I wish I'd kept that old butterfly chair from the attic, or at least sold it for more than five bucks at a yard sale.
I like the after photo. I really value light and the atmosphere it causes when it casts just right within the design space. Morning light especially because it causes that feeling of a fresh new day and having your whole, potentially exciting, day ahead of you.
Much better after! But too stark for me too.
