What inspired you to use color? Being in the military and living in the barracks! They were very dull and depressing. Painting was not an option. When my hubby and I finally bought our first home and we could paint I went with what I thought was the boldest color for me, orange!
Color Tip: orange and brown are not Halloween colors. Paint until u get the right color and then paint some more!!
Welcome, everyone, to our Fourth Annual Fall Colors Sharing & Contest. We're looking for the most beautiful & colorful home in the world and sharing all of the great ideas we get with our readers. This year we're amping things up and hoping to do things better than ever. There are two basic phases, the Sharing Phase and the Voting Phase...
1. Sharing Phase - you comment, judges decide
The 40 best, completed entries will be posted on a daily basis for three weeks. You can view them all at anytime via our new, improved contest pages under ALL ENTRIES. During this time your comments are VERY IMPORTANT as our six judges will be choosing 16 finalists from each region based on comments and their own colorful opinion.
2. Voting Phase - you vote till you drop
Starting October 20th, finalist voting will begin on a daily basis through our new bracketed voting system, which will pit our 16 finalists against one another until only one remains. Sound exciting? We hope so.
Best, Maxwell

LOVE the bold colors! Way to be brave :) Where did you get the large artwork (esp the chandelier and birds on a wire)? Are those stretched fabrics? (PS-I'm in nashville too!)
Looks like the set of a Chiasso catalog photo-shoot.
And what's with posting 2 pix of the dog in a tutu?!?!
what a cute place!
I love all of the white against the bold colors. That orange is gorgeous!
Your home is very cheery and warm. Nicely done!
great color combos in the living room.
is the tree in the tv room a decal or sit real?
btw, i have the same vase with the faces, it creeps me out every time i state at it for too long
VERY CUTE!!
Very cute, but I couldn't get over this one: please, you have as many characters as you want, and all the time to type them! There's no reason for anyone to use 'u' as a substitute for 'you' - especially in a forum of professionals.
I know that's so nitpicky and doesn't even have anything to do with the home (which is adorable!) but my blasted OCD just couldn't let up. I'm sorry!
I love your Adler face-vase; that's the first time I've seen it in a real home and it looks a LOT less creepy than in styled photos.
Min Pin in a tutu alert!!! Love this place and I adore the dog. I also adore green and orange and I've been wanting to paint a wall one of the two colors and I think you have helped convince me to do it!
Please tell us the names of the green and orange paints.
i love your art. please name the source :)
I think we pretty much have the same green paint color. :)
Beautiful use of colors. Only a couple of questions....are the orange and the green in the same room or did you paint the green room orange? I noticed that the shelf displays on the first picture is the exact same as the shelf displays on sixth picture. So I'm guessing it's really just the same room painted orange. Not a negative thing...just wondering. You were able to repurpose your sofa table and it's items to be used in the orange room as a console table, which is awesome! Again, beautiful home either way...you should be proud.
LOVE the tree on the bedroom wall!
That green in your living room is fabulous. Your modern child's room is lovely, too.
bold but still cohesive. very nice!
You don't by chance like birds and trees, do you? ;) I like them too.
I like your place. It seems fun and happy and warm.
The first picture reminds me of my old bungalow. Are you near Hillsboro Village by chance?
wow, i love pretty much everything about this house.
Nashville represent!
it's fun! my fav is the kid's room. the combinations in there really pop. i can see some theme's you've used.
only one thing, i think the living room does look kinda halloween. & i have orange walls, so it's not the orange. i think it could be the orange & black/brown combined w/ a shadow of an owl, you know? maybe if you moved the art around, it would seem less theme based. overall, it's a fun home.
lovely home, wonderful colors....I believe that I can see Mr. Adler's influence? love it!
Thanks for all your lovely comments! The green paint is Behr from Home Depot the paint color name is Rolling Hills the orange is also Behr but no longer have the name sorry. I painted all the artwork, and the tree is real.
Lily_rose, it is not the same room we barely spent anytime in the basement so we shifted all our furniture to the upstairs green living room turned the orange space in the basement into our office and the grey computer room is now just a guestroom.
Kimber, no I'm actually beside Percy Priest lake close to Nashboro village.
mariegael, your right about the owl picture its since been moved to the bedroom since the living room is no longer there.
Thanks again!
your kitchen is lovely
Bravo for managing to make such bright colours look so grown up. I've seen heavy shades of orange used quite often (and each time it has been a total disaster in my opinion) but you have really pulled it off!
With camouflage green walls why leave the barracks?
