What is the advantage of SMALL? I love living in a small place because you can truly focus on what you want your place to look like. You aren't placing things somewhere just because you have the space. Instead, you are able to think long and hard about each element and where it should be placed. Everything has a reason for being where it is.

What's your favorite resource for your home?
Everything that inspires. Colors outside, art, magazines, DIY home websites. I base my design around elements that I find. I love going to antique shops and looking for that one item that will just be born again in our home. I rely upon tangible objects and imagination.
What is your one favorite element in your small, cool home?
The colors. I feel as if the colors we choose to paint on the walls really evoke happiness. You can't walk into my apartment and feel sad. It radiates with warmth and relaxation. I love coming home from a hard day at work and immersing myself in the feel of the room. The soft blue of the living room. The energizing orange of the kitchen. The relaxing gray of the bedroom. Every room I go in just feels good.

White Enamel Flatwa...
Very nice use of colour and it feels larger than 55 sq.ft. Good photographs as well. Nice!
Sorry - that should say larger than 550 sq. ft. of course.
the hardwood floors are stunning.
Lovely! Can you tell us what color is on the living room walls?
Shan, I think it's blue ;)
It's Steel Blue from Sherwin Williams. :)
the living room looks so cozy and inviting!
Your home is beautiful! We love the storage just above the toilet and are wondering where you purchased? It is much nicer and more stylish than most I have seen.
Great to see an entry from Kansas City! Looking good too!
Very nice and cohesive spaces -
I especially enjoy how you worked with the existing blue tile in the bathroom and are making the best of the unfortunate "Faux-Butcherblock" post-formed laminate countertops in the use of the Orange paint in the kitchen.
That tile on the bathroom floor is fantastic!
You must really like your bed since you honored it with two photos...
One positive thing that caught my eye was that your furniture appears to be within scale to your apartment. It looks cozy. But golly gosh, I really wonder where all your stuff is stored.
I couldn't find a color called "Steel Blue" on Sherwin William's website. Did you paint recently?
Go checkerboard floors!
Love the living room, the kitchen and the bathroom. More along the lines of what i like. Kudos!!!!
It looks very suburban! Great use of space and color! Pictures are awesome as well!
This place looks nice, clean, and tasteful, but the very dark pieces feel like a lead weight on the design in contrast to the very light pieces and the lovely colors on the walls. I think it'd all feel more together if they were painted a lighter color. As it is, it feels a bit "mix and match".
Maybe it was stormy blue.... and suprisingly, the storage unit was from, of all places, Wal-Mart! I was shocked as well!
Thank you for everyone's comments as well. I only just moved into this apartment last December so it is still a work in progress and your comments are wonderful. :)
I love the paint colors, the tiled floors, and the pillows on the couch. That said, I would definitely lose the throw draped over the back of the sofa- I think it really takes away from the look of the room.
Lovely black-and-white pillows on your couch! May I ask where you got those (I'm looking for something similar for my new red sofa)?
Crate and barrel outlet.
screams: my first 'grown-up' apartment.
Beautiful - great use of color. You have an eye for color.
The kitchen & bath need to be update. Cool is new & trendy. The butcher block counters are a breeding ground for infection. The living room & bath are much better eye candy.
sorry! Not my bag!
