not my fav, but there is a lot of potential in your graphic design nature! the shoes!!!!! the shoes!!!! are soo clever and awesome, im not much of a "kicks" Aficionado but from whative been told those things are Sought after commadities! they look awesome!
is that plush fabric on the LR ceiling?
yes! a local girl! you do Htown proud. Glad to see you entered.
Represent!
What is that thing on the top shelf of the glass cabinet??? it looks like a naked, 'extra curvy' Barbie...
Love your use of color and pattern but I think I would get overwhelmed if I lived there. And, it seems like it would be hard to change the current style without redoing everything.
I didn't see anything "super cool" or innovative though.
I love the sofa... can you please tell me the source?
Really nice layout. Lots of personality, too!
The bathroom. How do you keep from falling off the toilet? I'm getting dizzy just from the picture.
The color! The graphics! The hands and feet! I love it.
I think people here are soo prejudiced against anything bold or original. They would rather see a whole bunch of minimalist neutral-colored, asian-inspired, modernist decor. That is so very tired! You have my vote! I loved the damask pattern in the bathroom. It is a tad overpowering to go on all the walls, maybe one wall would be okay, but I think you rapartment is original and refreshing. I voted super cool.
seriously funky, but sorta freaky-scary too.
Bright and funky and fun...
but rather than innovative it seems cluttered to me... with the dolls and odd displays.
I don't like the shoes in the entryway. Not very welcoming. There is a closet right there - why can't they go in the closet.
I understand it's some sort of cool shoe collection but to me it's like hanging your undies on the dining room chairs.
Girlfriend either has a serious tennis shoe fetish...
...or she runs a shoe-shop out of her front hall.
SNEAKERHEAD! Nice Air Max 95s and Mars IVs.
That sofa looks divine.
Very original and colorful.
Please tell me you work for Nike.
I like the bathroom and powder room.
Echo Enamorada - not particularly innovative and overwhelming with the pattern: each room has large scale graphics that are too matchy with the objects in the room (notably the shower curtain)
This is fun, memorable, and you totally make the space work and look the way you want it. I love all these places that are bravely showing such huge personality! They get huge, yet opposite reactions. Personally, I think this one is Super Cool, and I'd love to see it in person.
The shoes are in the back hall between her bedroom and bathroom, opposite her bedroom closet, not her front hall. And since the only closet in the place is that bedroom closet, I think showcasing the collection on the wall and making them look set out is a great alternative!
Yay, happy to see a Houstonian in the mix!
Though I'm not a fan of the wall decals, but do like the footware exhibition in the hallway. very fun.
great bathrooms, but did we really need to see both of them and not the bedroom? seems odd.
I thought this place was cool! And the shoe racks were staggered to 1) make room for the light switch and 2) allow for taller shoes, case ya didn't notice.
Individually, I think each area is really nice, but as a whole it's lacking cohesiveness; there is not one element tying the rooms together.
What is on the living room ceiling? It looks like the sane fabric that is on the couch. If it's paint, it's a really bad paint job. It looks like freshly vacuumed carpet....
I like the fact that you can definitely see your own style come through the pictures. It's not my thing but the shoe display is cool.
fearless, fun & funky
Another person here who wants to know who the curvy figurine is on the top shelf.
The dolls and hands weird me out. Sorry.
Totally not my style at all but I suprisingly loved it! It is so much fun and all the decoration said a lot about the owner!
I expected to read, As a shoe designer, I like to display . . . What a funny collection of stuff. Truly unique.
Lots of cool items and ideas, but overall it's too much of a good thing.
Fun and funky apartment. Love the collection of hand signals over the couch!
closet envy!
I really like the use of color and love your dark hardwood floors. If I had that shoe collection, you better believe it would be displayed.
On the white wall next to your kitchen (behind the glass container with naked barbie) are those blue decals or is it wallpaper? I like how it carries the color out.
Are the hands supposed to be saying something? They all look like ASL, but my eyes aren't good enough to read the bottom row...
~Q
"cool" almost there. I think the funky store display look and super kitschy club interior looks are clashing though. if the items are what you want people to look at-- then go all white with super slick shelving. this entry made a bit dizzy. Do you get a lot of natural light in here?
i liked it until i saw the living room. that was definitely not my favorite part! but i loved everything else.
I can't believe there's a powder room in a 700 s.f. apt. Cool!
Oh. If the shoe shelves are in a closet hallway - then it's pretty cool.
I thought she had them at the front door so she could decide what to wear on her way out... that's just weird!
I love the hallway with the retro shoe collection. 70's waffle trainers are the most comfortable shoes ever manufactured. I thought it was just Nikes until I slipped on a pair of original Saucony Jazz. Now I just look for anything waffle. Of course people who don't collect shoes aren't going to get it.
The one thing I didn't like was the living room with the blue walls with the hand signal display clashing with the taupe sofa. The hands might be too desperate for attention no matter what you do to them but could probably benefit from less ornate display shelves and less staggering.
I love the floors, wallpaper and stickers.
In my book you get extra style points for not using any IKEA furniture (except possibly Lack shelves), mid century modern, or cats! Both bathrooms are cohesive, I'd kill for shoe shelves like yours, and the living room shows some humor.
Hooray for Houston!
saucony jazz shoes look awesomeawesomeawesome but arent that comfy... i don't think they provide enough support! but then again there are people on their feet all day who swear by them!
saucony jazz shoes look awesomeawesomeawesome but arent that comfy... i don't think they provide enough support! but then again there are people on their feet all day who swear by them! LOVE that shoe collection!
about your space- i agree each individual room looks great but as a whole the styles range a lot. i bet it looks more cohesive in person though.
I like the technicolors and the comic book feeling.
Nice!
finally some creative tastes
but seriously the bathroom? hahahaha
its just like in Garden State when he walks into the bathroom covered in busy wallpaper wearing a matching shirt, I bet when you stand in front of that mirror you feel like a floating head and arms
Cool ideas in the first few shots and then it seems to go over the top a bit.
The colors in particular are a bit garish to me. The blue in the room with all the hand sculptures looks strange with the couch.
Points for creativity and boldness but wish it were more cohesive.
It took me a minute to realize that there was a mirror in the powder room and ...duh... not 2 Ebony magazine covers...
Although the style wouldnt be something I would choose to live with, it definitely was fun to look at. It shows great originality and I can tell you made it exactly the way you like it.
First 2 pictures i was feeling you. Last 3 no, no, no.
I'm totally digging the livingroom with the hands. Great idea. I love the originality.
I think you're a much better shoe collector than you are a home designer. Nice wallpaper in the bathroom though.
This place looks more like a night club then a home. It is an eclectic mix of styles that do not work well together.
I would have a panic attack if I were in that black and white bathroom and the door was shut.
Sorry, it's just too-too. Looks like a fun-house at a carnival.
love it! very creative.
That amount of wallpaper in the bathroom alone would encourage me not to overstay my welcome. I'm not particularly fond of the paint color choices either. They are just all wrong and they don't do a thing for the space. This is a prime example where white walls with nice furniture and art would be best would be best...or maybe a more cohesive color scheme. That odd blue looks so out of place with the kitchen cabinets and appliances.
I'm sure there were good intentions for this place but the execution is wrong.
P.S. The shoe collection is dope!
I love it. The pattern on the bathroom wall is super cute. Nice vintage magazine on the wall. The sneakers in hall way look dope and its a great way to use the space.
the reez.
NICE
You put alot of work into this, cant want to see it. Good job..!
super adorable! i love everything about it.... sneakers/kubricks/bootie babes/ vintage mags... great style and one of the most original entries!!!!
The bathroom is bad ass. I love the throw back feel through out with the bold use of colors.
Nice place! The black & white bath is old world meets new retro world. You must be a sneaker fan. The shelves are an excellent resource for displaying shoe art. Keep representing individual style.
Jennifer's Hide-away is sleek, contemporary, well coordinated and looks more like a flat in Europe than a place in Houston, Texas! Use of vibrant colors, fabric for texture, natural wood floors, funky accents (the collections) are the eye candy for the living area. I could really chill in this crib....It is the best use of space I have seen in the contest...
I LOVE your bathrooms, especially the shower curtain!! You went all out girlfriend. Everything looks amazing!
The wall details are HOT and with this mind-blowing sense of style I bet the owner is too!
just the way i like it.
small and tight...
The place has an east coast feel for Houston (dirty south). I am really drawn to the 60's style of decorating. The bold colors with a touch of classic elegance. It is hard to show personality in the small places without being too bold. Really nice job!
Keep it cool. Houston!!!
Very creative with an awesome sense of style. You get a feel of personality from the owner and it does not have the generic hotel room look that I see all too often on here. Warning: May to be offensive to those lacking personality and individuality.
It actually looks like someone lives there. I agree too many places look like catalogs. This place can't be mistaken for a hotel or catalog. It reflects a distinct personality. This is a good look for the H! The bathrooms are especially cool. I gotta go now. I have to make my place look less plain.
I think it's absolutely adorable! Okay, maybe hip is the word! Word UP. Love those shoes! The black and white fabric on the wall is really creative and the magazine covers in the frames is really eye catching!
This apartment is ideal for the single girl in the city!
This place is great! Imagine coming home after a long day and fighting Houston traffic, you close the front door and step into the tranquil Caribbean blue sea of the living room. Then, to relax in the Oriental green bathroom with the sounds of water soothing your tired soul! I love the decor!
Hey got to go to Lowe's to get some of these fabulous colors in my realtor's beige home.
This is the best of all the entries I have seen...no clutter, peaceful and upscale.
Cute<3 An amzing sense of style and creativity. You are a real entrepreneur and at such a young age too, which we don't really see that often. I love the colorful shoes (or as some may call them "dunks") and I love how you have given your own original style to the store while still implementing a touch of class. Others may disagree, but it's your store- meaning you can decorate as you please. If they don't neccessary agree with the decor, they can go open a store themselves and let us comment on how we feel about theirs; which I'm sure wouldn't even compare to your hottie hideaway. You give young, intelligent, beautiful woman a great look. Keep up the good work! -Much luv:)
I love this entry and feel it is the best of all because there isn't any clutter. I can imagine coming home after a long tiring day coupled with the drive in Houston traffic closing the door and stepping into the Caribbean blue living room...calm! Then a leisurely long soak in the soothing bath of the Orient would make my day complete.
This space is too cool. Going shop for some color for my boring realtor's beige place now.
This is the winner.
interesting... i had a hunch that the last few very positive comments were rigged- they are her friends... they sounded like they already knew the owner of the awesome shoe collection and apartment by using words like "hottie" "girlfriend" "Much luv:)" etc. Sure enough, click on their names and you see they JUST became members in the last couple days and only have a couple, or just one, commentpost to their name - on Jennifer's apartment page!!
seriously?!
It feels a bit contrived and attention seeking to me.
Wow! One of the few places that doesn't look like a copied page out of crate & barrel's catalog. Her style is just as colorful and fresh as her shoes. Jennifer just remember don't expect praise without envy first, until your dead
Hey everyone look sarahjam has so much style, that if she were in a contest she wouldn't ask her friends (hi mom&dad) to help her. Because her style is that good. She is so cool to point out something so stupid.
It is stupid, you're right, colors (who joined April 25 suspiciously enough). Anyway my opinion's out there... let the game go on!
man that sofa is so nice, I think I saw it in Houston at high fashion home. If you are ever in houston stop by and check it out. Ask for will or jeff, the store is like crack for the designer in all of us.
I found the sofa online at highfashionhome.com.

Remember ask for will or jeff. They will make sure that you will have a pleasant time shopping in the massive textile/furniture store
voted not my bag, but not because I hate it, in fact, some elements I really liked. Just the way those elements are executed weirds me out.
I like damask, but yeah, a hangover in your bathroom would be a bad scene.
I'm also desperate to know if you covered your living room ceiling with fabric. that must have been SO MUCH work.
hot - hip & cool --mw#26
