What inspired you to use color? After years of living in white walled apartments I'm enjoying playing with color. When I bought my house is was painted with intense, dark, depressing jeweltones so I cleaned it up with upbeat fun colors.
Color Tip: I can't stand clutter, and when you use bold colors you can't allow clutter. Your walls become a focal point, don't mess it up too much!
Colors Used: Benjamin Moore Stem Green (kitchen) Labrador Blue (dining room and bath) Armstrong vinyl composite tile in the kitchen and bathroom in specialty colors (unavailable at big box stores, but can be ordered at a local flooring wholesaler)
Welcome, everyone, to our Fourth Annual Fall Colors Sharing & Contest. We're looking for the most beautiful & colorful home in the world and sharing all of the great ideas we get with our readers. This year we're amping things up and hoping to do things better than ever. There are two basic phases, the Sharing Phase and the Voting Phase...
1. Sharing Phase - you comment, judges decide
The 40 best, completed entries will be posted on a daily basis for three weeks. You can view them all at anytime via our new, improved contest pages under ALL ENTRIES. During this time your comments are VERY IMPORTANT as our six judges will be choosing 16 finalists from each region based on comments and their own colorful opinion.
2. Voting Phase - you vote till you drop
Starting October 20th, finalist voting will begin on a daily basis through our new bracketed voting system, which will pit our 16 finalists against one another until only one remains. Sound exciting? We hope so.
Best, Maxwell

i love this house. so cute and cozy.
This is beautiful and very livable. I love the calmer colors on the walls with some brighter pops of color in the furniture. Good use of color stays this simple.
What a great submission! This is a wonderful example of putting color to use. Who would'nt want to cozy up in this Denver home? Way to go Maggie - your hard work sure paid off!
what a beautiful color - soothing somehow.
This is GORGEOUS! Way to go Maggie!

This is probably one of the BEst I've seen so far!!! Color that isn't overwhelming, but guides you from room to room!! (and nice fence)
Yeah ditto, Nice fence. It's different!
Neat! As soon as I saw those arches I thought it was a house in my neighborhood!!! I really like that green... It would look good in my dining room!!!
i love this brown!!!
Blue and Green are a must be seen in your space. Lovely.
I think I like this one so much because the colors I have in my place are dead ringers for the colors in yours! I wouldn't be brave enough to do what you did with the floors, but I love it in your place!
Wow, this house looks so nice. I love how it actually is somewhere I would want to live, and is so inspiring to spruce up our own place!
Winner winner chicken dinner.
This house is rad. Love the floors and the fluid colors. Great job!
the blue & green is nice. cute pup!
why did you use so many of your pictures for outside?
Love the soft subtile colours. They really bring out the great shapes your doorframes have. I also like to way your wall colours make your red Eames chairs glow! I am a white wall person and this is a great inspiration for my place. Thanks for sharing!
Very nice combination of colors, love the way one room and one colors leads into another.
Especially like the yellow chair with the grey-green wall.
Probably my favorite use of color so far.
love how color was brought into each space! i usually dislike VCT, but i love the way it's used here. and the fence is awesome!
Yes, I'm biased because my apartment is painted similar colors, but I love this! Energetic yet soothing at the same time, if that makes sense.
This is one of the better ones so far for this contest. I love the fence, very clever. Great job with the flow of the colors leading you from room to room.
Lovely! Not overwhelming or unattainable.
My favorite so far. Nice floor and red/orange accents.
What a cute home!
oh I LOVE this one...excellent use of color....my fav so far!
Oh wow. I am in love.
Modern and charming. My favorite color scheme is the bedroom with the espresso painted floors and the mushroom colored walls. I want to cozy in that chair with a good read.
Cheers to you, Maggie
Such a wonderful sense of color. The colors are different, but work so well together. You home looks so nice to come home to after a hard day at work. Way to go!
I love this house. A winner in my book.
Love the fence. Did you make it yourself, or hire someone? It's awesome. (Your colors are also beautiful!)
love that mocha brown wall color
That fence is incredible. Great use of asymmetry and random spacing.
As other's have noted, your color sense is well balanced. Also, your furniture selection is better than the other entries on this site by miles. Eames chairs, and that sofa... nice work. You must be very proud of your living space. It all reflects dedication and an investment of proportion unmatched my other entrants so far.
Thanks for the photos.
Maggie Here- Yes- i did build the fence. it was very simple, but a fun weekend project. Also the brown color in the bedroom (with the yellow chair) is "stampede" from benjamin moore.
Nice job! I love those colors and how they create a sense of openness and calm.
I love the color combos.
the eames chairs really pop against the wall color.
I loved the blue in the living room with the Eames chairs. Beautiful job.
agree with austin sarah! have a similar color combo in my bedroom. calming but still fun.
Very nice, I like your color combinations for a sense of openness and tranquility.
the blue/gray combo made me go-awww... like a twilight time of the day, intruguing and mesmerising. very good choices Maggie!
The blue walls are fantastic. A great color choice- light enough not to overwhelm a room, but potent enough to be memorable.
The blue, green, and red are perfect for your light and space. Wow
Very livable! Nice, calm colors.
And the fence is great!
ooooo! Ahhhhh! lovely!
undoubtedly the best here
Maggie, I think you've done a wonderful job of keeping the space open and airy and using bright, happy colors. I especially like the kitchen floor accent. Just lovely. A place I would be happy living.
Not outstanding. Refrigerator too cluttered, patio sort of disjointed. Need more unifying elements.
should've won your last round in my book
