Mikaela faced a problem common in an IKEA generation household: that media console in your living room you once loved is looking a little worn out and in need of an update. But instead of throwing it out, Mikaela knew she could give her TV console a bit of DIY love to bring it back to the forefront of her "love it" list. Here's what she did...
I really liked our TV cabinet, except for the colour, and the fact there were no doors. Well, it had one glass door, the other our kitty cat bella managed to smash into pieces when she was running around like a crazy person one day...Instead of getting a new cabinet, I decided to give it a bit of a makeover. I added two doors on either side, and gave it a few coats of white paint. The problems I ran across were many.
After a few hiccups while trying to add the new doors, Mikaela's media center was refinished into a refreshingly new and modern piece.
Those of us who've tackled DIY projects like this will especially appreciate Mikaela documenting her "fed-up face", capturing during the process of trying to add two new doors to the front of her media console. Fortunately, her perseverance paid off and she completed her project with a nicely refinished piece (Mikaela does note the water based enamel scratches easily, so consider your choice in paints and protective coatings if you're prone to moving or scratching your furnishings).
