Who Lives Here: Miki and her husband
Location: Sunnyvale, California
Tell Us About Your Home: "It all started from lack of cash flow! My husband and I were young parents, and fresh homeowners with a substantial mortgage. We couldn't afford new furniture, but we were never afraid to remodel whatever junk we could lay our hand on and turn it into treasure. The years went by. We are not so young anymore and our mortgage is nearly paid, but now this junk chic is a motto of ours.
We just feel it is insane to spend so much money on furniture when we can repurpose what we have or find, preserve the environment in the process, and get that sense of achievement when a piece of furniture that was lying on the street becomes a focal point that guests adore when they visit. We recently moved to the USA and live in a rented place, but instead of compromising for a dark dreary space for the time we spend here, our home is warm, colorful, bright and inviting, and it didn't cost us much!"
Thanks, Miki!

AMAZING!!!!!! Love your space.
Adorable space, but why is it called a house tour when it's more like a house call? I would love to see a full tour, though.
dykelly625, you're right! It IS a House Call, and that was a misprint! Thanks.
This is terrific. I'd love to see a full tour.
Love the use of the lime green throughout. Very cute.
Excellent, excellent home. I too am starting go go green. Its not expensive, and you could save the planet at the same time. I love your place. Thanks for showing it.
Mmmm its lovely - crisp and fresh. It looks like what biting into a deliciously ripe green apple tastes like. I love the chandlers by the bedsides - where are they sourced? Thanks for sharing.
Thank you all for your kind responses. Aunty Lucy, the chandeliers are from an Urban Outfitters sale last year. Have a great weekend.
Can you explain how you did the headboard. It has a braille effect.
It is Braille. I learned how to write Braille (you can find it online). Then I cut styrofoam balls in halves and taped them to the wall to write down all my secrets.... It easy, fun and costs less than $10! I know styrofoam is not environmentally friendly, but I only used a little...
Very nice! I like it. How did you do that mock head board, I wonder?
I like the white wall storage "pods" in the fifth picture. What are they??
I am also interested in the tiny pods for storage. What are they?
