These military field furnishings are made for mobility. They're compact and flexible, perhaps making them good for small apartments, too?
When we spotted this field desk highlighted over at Por Homme (image 1), we were curious to find more like it. Here's a selection of what our search turned up.
• 1 Coleman's Military Surplus
• 2 Swiss Military Field Desk with 4 Chairs from Rusty Bayonet
• 3 Hardigg field desk from All Cases
• 4 Our fave (but ouch! - that price!): 3-part Military Field Chest & Tables from REHAB Vintage Interiors
• 5 An antique field desk reproduction by Masterpiece Woodcrafters

You find all of the real deal, actual honest-to-god government-issue field desks if you search "field desk" on GSA Advantage, which is the Amazon.com of government supplies!
Hahaa I have an old medical table that I got for free! It's just sitting in my garage in it's box. When I was in high school I had to help clean out the band room and they were just going to throw it away. I guess the school was a fall-out shelter back in the 50's.
The name for this stuff is campaign furniture. Wonderful, ingenious collapsible pieces. Napoleon has some especially nice bits.
That's what Josephine said.
I found this exact desk at a thrift store 15 years ago for 10 dollars. It have been a desk, storage piece and media center ever since!!! Absolutly a treasure!
just perused the GSA Advantage site...and they do have all those desks, but I wouldn't recommend spending $465.42 on an olive drab desk that you could probably brow-beat out of a surplus store owner for less than $150...haha
I already have an entire closet and then some of military uniforms, boots, gear and other things once issued but now not authorized to be worn or used from my husband, so I think I'll pass! But I think that in the right context #1 and #3 would be interesting and unexpected.
