What I Love About My Small Home:
I love the amount of light that we get in our home. We live on the 4th floor and on sunny days it is so warm and glowing. Even though there is never enough storage in a small place, I love that we have 5 closets...that's ridiculous by NYC standards. We've certainly found a way to fill them all though.
Three of My Best Tips and Tricks for Creating a Successful Small Space::
In a small space you have to be creative, edit constantly and find ways to maximize/create additional storage. We have employed every possible method to hide our stuff-outfitted closets with floor to ceiling shelves, purchased furniture that is double duty, used boxes, bins and under sofa/bed/sink crates in an effort to keep things out of sight. You should also try to "live large" in a small space. Don't feel as though you are relegated to tiny pieces and sparse furnishings. We've crammed a lot of stuff into our tiny abode, but to me it just adds to the feeling of home.
Lastly make sure you are constantly picking up after yourself so as not to create a cramped feeling...and when all else fails, get a storage locker to hide everything and conceal your hoarding tendencies.
